Has anyone here taken advantage of their post-layoff outside career counseling offer? I admittedly walked out pretty p.o.'d but I'm heading toward the cutoff point of using them, if only for a professional re-do of my resume. Being one of the old-timers let go in the summer, I'm probably going to need it. Just want to know if they've actually helped anyone.

I had a great coach and an awesome resume writer who helped redo my resume in the correct format to be picked up by the automated resume readers used now by most companies. As it stood I had a nice format but because of tables and other formatting he said they'd never find my contact information! LOL.
FYI - you do get access to their site and tools forever even after the counseling time period ends.
I got positive feedback from someone who was riffed earlier - they hadn't been on the market in a while. Newer resume writing style is different and format/appearance makes a better impression these days.
I decided to avail myself of their help after having heard my friends feedback - it's free so what the hey.
I'm sure AIG is paying for every person who goes so even if you pick up a few tips, it's time well spent.

Yes, I used it. The company is called Risesmart which provide a job search coach and professional resume writer. Coach is ok, but resume writer is even better.
They did a nice job on the resume rewrite. The counselor’s advice is okay. She’s given me a few helpful pointers. I was RIFed in September in NYC and I think I’m about to land something. They’re worth your time. It’s free.
