Anyone receive today’s email about Retiree Medicare subsidy eliminated for “targeted management employees legacy T ” effective January 1, 2021? Does anyone know if they will broaden the MTP beyond the current 2 years? I’m 3 years away due do break in service and this news is Huge and means there is no retirement medical benefit after age 65. No question why he sent the email out after folks left for vacation. This benefit was the reason I have worked here 20 years all my career. To be 1 year short after all this time and lose out will require some external assistance.
at&t legacy is getting slaughtered tomorrow
I do not expect to have job after tomorrow
21 years as a switch tech
Sure! How about the complete outsourcing of ALL technical support?
In the office I was laid off from on the legacy T side of the house. Massive 70% management cuts first quarter 2018, another couple rounds and then I got the notice 12/14/18. Day after my birthday yippee, off payroll date 02/12/19 no explanation as to how I was selected and others were not. 29 years and thanks to slashing of severance package and pensions. I may as well had had half the time, someone with 13 years receives the same 26 weeks severance. Pension at 52 with 29 years of service? $1582 a month.... it is shameful how the executives stood in our office and lied to our faces about the viability and stability of our center.
Uverse techs and managers have been getting the axe here In Wisconsin. Core management also since the first of the year. . Construction is next , so I am told . We were told more to come soon .
In CT now in ATS and when you don't have the numbers to retire there is nothing you can do except go. We were told there are no jobs available in CT and the VP would not commit to any future layoff or closing of that area. We suspect it will come by 2020.
As of 2-23-19 the company has told all in the Meriden CT office it will be closed. This includes all management people. The ATS people will be required to work from a building in downtown New York. The cost to travel will be on their own backs. Tolls or train will be high. The "Collaboration Zone" will be centered in NY and because virtually nothing will remain in CT, the zone wont include Connecticut.
People are to say the least "p-ss-d"
I have 36 years and do not expect to see another year. .Collaboration Zones are soon to hit many and most think it will be the other guy. In the ATS group we lost 11 and the end day in March 31. Try looking for a different job is useless. I was told once surpluses are given no one in another area will hire thinking it will cause them to be next if the numbers are moving up. AS reported in another post , contractors are not doing field support and inside people are clueless.
@arpr-nothing said about relocating or any other options? Who is your VP in ATS? Thanks for the info
Well today ( 2-4-19) we were told in ATS that the end is near for anyone not in a "collaboration Zone" Unless your in one of the areas AT&T calls this type of zone your gone regardless of the job you do. Remote support for the areas working with contractors. We lost many including the level 3 manager.
AT&T Tech OPs surplussed most of the approved fulltime teleworkers yesterday Jan 28 - these workers were approved to work from home but they were not near a "collaboration Zone" or a hub city such as Dallas, Atlanta, St Louis etc. Executive management is out of control We can thank that piece of c-ap Randall Stephenson for putting the company into over $100B of debt by buying DirecTV and Time Warner.
I heard 1 level managers are going to go harder on IBEW 21 techs to make their lives miserable.
Anymore info for 2020 lay offs?
IN THE SE, THE LAYOFF ANNOUNCEMENT IS DECEMBER 15 FOR THE 1ST QUARTER 2019
If it's not cell service connected start looking for a new job quick
Advanced Technical support ( ATS ) will be cut in Conn also.
The company has very few employees in Connecticut and will announce in January the elimination of all and move any functions to the south.
3ggg is correct----Just keep paying your CWA Dues while the Union does Nothing!! If you have 20 years, you have paid approx $20,000 cash in dues. Anything you have gotten from the CWA, you have more than paid for.
Haha, elite group? Are we taking about AT&T?
AT&T’s only domestic Advanced Technical Support Digital (Tier 2.5) Department (headcount approx. 100) was redeployed from assisting customers with cellular connectivity troubleshooting to Customer Care Frontline phone support. Which is primarily involved with mitigating billing complaints. This was presented to the elite group as a temporary 60 day project to assist sales groups experiencing a manpower shortage. This misrepresentation has now been revealed to be permenant.
IHX is supposedly slated for 2019. Not sure when.
To the most eloquent Post ID: @VTli5zj-3ggg
The company will soon clean house and sweep clowns like you to the curb. It is starting to happen and will go into overdrive in 2019.
The "Union" will fight for you!! ---Sarcasm Font off----- hahahahahahahaha
Numbers won't be determined until the 2019 budgets are finalized and it will be unique to each impacted organization. Some organizations have already been told they are heavy and the reductions will occur in January/February with "off payroll" dates by March 31st.
I would expect January and June of 19 to be heavy in prep for 2020 goals.
Feel sorry for DirecTv , snd TW, you will be put the door first.
It will be December 14th for CWA.
December 15 will be IBEW
Thank you! Posts on what this site was originally for.
Lots, and lots and lots of layoffs from here to 2020
we won’t get confirmation of numbers until mid to late November. There will be announcements in January.
