Thread regarding Sears layoffs

There is not going to be any honesty from anyone

Management does not tolerate any discussion on layoffs. We're supposed to be mindless, happy workers until we are told to go away.

So yeah, Sears folks are going to have a hard time getting straight answers. This line of inquiry is going to be locked down, hard; and it's going to be every-man-for-himself. There is not going to be any "honesty" from anyone.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM at the heart of the matter, It's a matter of treating employees as adults and with respect. If the company will not treat employees with the respect they deserve then they should not expect that in return. It's that simple. Don't lie to me when the building is on fire and tell me it's business as usual. Even if we both know the truth, then speak it up front.

This is a reply from another thread, @VODOzbm-fyl. Thought it needed a thread of its own.

Some of you people are so nasty when you respond to comments that it genuinely baffles me. How hard is it to have a civil discussion? OP has the right to feel that they should know what's going on with the company and honesty from those above you is not an unreasonable expectation, you bitter a--holes. You have the right to be bitter, of course, but you shouldn't take it out on each other the way that you are. And as for that "be an adult, if you don't like it, quit" comment - YOU need to be an adult and realize that not everyone has the luxury of walking away without a backward glance or safety net in place. I worked for SHC for almost five years. I understand the panic and the frustration that comes from not getting answers. In fact, one of my old managers directed me here a little over a year ago so that I could really know what was going on. I'm sorry everyone is being so horrible to you, OP. You're absolutely right.

Honest or not, you should be responsible for knowing about the company you are working for and signs that things aren't going well. Our manager would not read the news, listen to any negative talk, forbid any talk of layoffs or store closings. She was clueless to the financial mess that Sears was in. Well that came to an end a few days ago when we were told we were closing. Our manager was totally blindsided. She finally understood that everything that was happening to the store and every thing she was told for the last few years has been a lie. She was devastated. But I must say it was her own fault.

There has been NO HONESTY since Edward Lampert took the helm. His "transformation" is ONE BIG LIE.

If you are looking for information don't look inside the company. It's not in their interest to tell you anything.

Why do you people need someone to tell you what to do ? The information about this is all around you . Be an adult and make your own decisions . Management cant tell you anything because they want people to act ignorant and stick around until they are told to leave . I left 1 year ago because I realized what was the inevitable future for Sears . I found a much better job were I am treated with respect and the atmosphere is wonderful and relaxed , not the penitentiary , horrible environment of Sears .

Honesty should be the last thing anyone should expect from Sears. It's a SM prerequisite to be a pathological liar.
