I was 3 months from my 16 year mark at Honeywell. I got tired of all the games that managment played. Threats of layoffs and furloughs year after year. Sick of the tiny pay raises when we got pay raises. I lost 2 weeks of vacation/ sick time and the greatly anticipated 401K match for the year. I traded all of that for avjob that have me a 22% pay raise walking in the door, already talking promotion and o havevlost that horrid sick feeling evertime i drove into the Honeywell parking lot. I wonder of it was worth the trade off ?

@5cen If you are in Aero ISC, then your chances of being terminated are better than you quitting based on the behaviour of the leader of that regime during the 3+ years of his tenure. Never have I seen someone take an organisation that was beginning to right the ship, and subsequently sink it to the bottom of the ocean as this man has. Good luck.
There are a lot of jobs out there right now and Honeywell does not care if you leave. Why not? Hardly anyone over say 35 or with more than say 4 years with the company that doesn't talk about leaving. I work in ISC, I actually can't say I hear anyone say they like their situation. And doesn't appear too many people want to come join the team either, job postings going unfilled.
If LinkedIn activity is any indication a lot of people will be leaving. Some of the most dedicated and long term employees I know are asking for endorsements and updating their profiles. 2019 will be interesting
There may not be a match coming January , if the latest Zacks report on Honeywell earnings keeps following downward trend. Thank you for your support !
If a "loyal employee" works for HON for 20 or 30 years and then retires, they should get the match. The "loyal" part about waiting until the end of the year is BS. Just corporate spin. RIFing your people isn't exactly "loyal" either. Loyalty usually goes both ways.
note for myself x2S3-2wob. correction "privilege" is the word HR used in place of "benefit" for the match.
As if that is supposed to make us ever so grateful. I view HR managers with as much distaste as car salesmen , and phone scammers. Must be a special place in hell for Honeyhell HR Managers.
I may wait until April 1, 2019 if I'm getting a MIP. Somehow April Fools seems appropriate.
Interesting nuance to the delayed payment and loyalty that I hadn't thought before. Don't pay for voluntary quits or retirements during the year, but pay prorated share at the end of the year for voluntary and involuntary RIFs. How about it, Morristown?
I emailed the head of HR. Told them how that email they sent is con-job.
If you compare 7% bi-weekly to 7% lump sum the biweekly wins out. Only in a"corner" case where Hon stock price at its low at lump sum time does the lump sum better in the number of shares. There is the other extreme case where stock is going up during the year and ends up at high point at lump sum time that bi-weekly wins out. Instead they say the 7% lump sum is better than 6% bi-weekly old plan. I told them We do not like being insulted by their con-job. The HR leader got offended and said I was name calling. I did not call him a name, but probably insinuated they are crooks. Oh, he also said the match is a benefit , not an entitlement. ( actually it was an inducement for us to save in the plan. Then this year he says its reward for "loyal " employees who stay. But that's false because what about the one's that get RIF'd or have to retire for health reasons 2/3 way through year/)
@1bww. If a band 4 leaves before MIP in mid March, they will lose their MIP.
Agree with 2duq. I won't jump for a c-appy role but actively searching. Band 4 but would willingly skip 401k match and March bonus to get a job with a healthy company so my health would be better
Looking forward to the future. Turning on being open to new roles in LinkedIn has helped
And heard more reduction in Corporate functions are in queue for Q1 and business will follow those. No clarification on percent but budget I am hearing means minimum 5% RIF like most years
The match amount isn’t enough to make me wait. Job hunting now and will leave the moment I get a better offer. Today’s email trying to convince that we are better off under new system was lame. Show me the spreadsheet and run it across the last five years as a Monte Carlo. Childish graphics do not impress
The prorated rule does not apply to USA non-California Band 4s
If your boss approves you could take 6 weeks in Q1 but you wouldn't be allowed to be on vacation in Q2
You must work 40 days in the quarter to take any vacation in the next quarter
Unlimited vacation for USA bands 4 and above within some rules
-toc: You might want to read the vacation policy before you take your entire yearly four week allowance in Q1 and then leave the company in April. It's an earn as you go month to month calculation. You've earned five days as of Mar 31 and the other fifteen days will be deducted from your final paycheck if you do it.
You bands 4's. Do you have to wait for your MIP first ?
I would highly recommend taking the first week of January off on vacation since it is unlimited for Band 4. I plan to exit April 30 after taking 4 weeks of vacation
Those I work with that are ready to retire are sticking around for this exact reason. It seems to be reason enough to stick around until after the new year.
