Employee engagement survey

Sales are falling off a cliff. What to do? I know, take an employee engagement survey. More than 1900 employees responded, and what do we learn?

Employees in India are happy. We're hiring lots of them and they get big raises at review time.

Employees in the US are miserable. While we're hiring more sales VPs every other group is getting laid off as their jobs get sent to India and Costa Rica. Raises at review time are less than half those in India.

Employees in Costa Rica? trick question, they're contractors and not part of the survey.

Huge numbers of US employees are what the survey calls "actively disengaged", ie their daily activities actually subvert the best interests of the company. Why would any new customer sign up for that?

I agree the company basically is a joke and they wonder why there is no morale...

It is not only US employees now, it is happening at every place where Sungard AS office is. Over 30 people from India were asked to leave forcefully, and a team of 80 were transitioned to third party wherein 40-50% of employees lost their job.

It seems that leadership has no visions, making revenue by sacking their employees will not run for a long time.

When they talk with us about the results, they will roll out that buffoon from HR that will turn it back on you, just like when someone brought up low morale on a call. “Morale is up to the individual”. Next will be “direction of the company is up to you, not leadership”

The lowest shore on that survey was “I have faith in the direction senior management is taking the company”

We have had Directors and Senior Directors who have been cruising for years.

"Huge numbers of US employees are what the survey calls "actively disengaged", ie their daily activities actually subvert the best interests of the company. Why would any new customer sign up for that?" 110% correct. Customers know and Employees have no more f***s to give. The ones that have expiring contracts are not renewing and the ones that are locked in for 2-3 years are looking for alternatives and are drafting RFPs.

What's even more insulting about the survey results, and this was very predictable, is the way HR has turned the shi**y results back on the employees to remediate as if it is our fault the company is in the toilet. HR knows they have no clout to ask any LT or SVP to change how they operate, so their only target is middle management (at this point Directors) and anyone under them. Not going after the root cause of the issues (Sr. Management and LT) is a sure fire way for remediation to fail....and it will.

What is at work here is a larger plan to drive SgAS into the ground, Bankruptcy. IF the company is still around next year that this time, the staff will be 100% contractor based. All regular W2 employees under a certain rank will be gone through RIF or attrition. Also gone will be the need for most Directors and Sr. Directors in the Operations organization. However, the SALES org, keeping on their current trajectory of hiring senior management, will have doubled the number of VPs and SVPs who manage a call center of off-shore based Account Executives who make cold calls in very poor English skills at $3.75 an hour. Godspeed!
