Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Fall layoff for US workers looming?

Managers were asked to rank their employees just recently in Aero. It is too early for reviews so that only means one thing......layoff before the end of year. Probably from all the work they are pushing to India.

That includes the experienced troubleshooters who can actually help problematic supplier situations.

All the mandatory OT and hiring won't fix their problems. The talented and experienced workforce is no longer here.

Surprised that MM let any direct employee go since he's hiring 1000 to replace all the ones he cut in the past 3 years. He won't get his past due out the door that way. There should be a target on his back.

Today a machinist was let go in Aerospace due to supposably bad performance. The employee had been an excellent employee for 29 years. He recently was put on a pip Because they wanted to get rid of him. At the beginning of the year he was going to get an extra week of vacation which would have put them at 6 weeks and he made over $30 an hour. If you make more than $30 an hour on the floor and have a lot of vacation time there is a huge Target on your back.

Back to the OP statement. To my knowledge there is NOT a RIF action going on. At this point in the year Managers (like me) are asked (demanded) to give the year end 9 BLK rating for each of their employees. Heavy focus again this year on singling (allocation, quota, ...etc) Band 4 outer (elbow) BlKs. NO this is not for RIF actions!, been through this to many times and I'm unsure of the reason why Band 4 is always single out, other than the non sensical statement of raising the bar, and the continued insistence that regardless of accomplishment there are always employee below standards.

Since we do not terminate these people, I think it is really is more akin to poking a caged animal with a stick, it does not kill (or in this case fire) them but it really pisses them off and will certainly motivate them to action. what kind of action? well its always case by case..?

Isn’t there an initiative on-going to insource work back into HON sites lately? Therefore, they shouldn’t be laying off folks in view of this initiative.

Leadership is doing another NO STRANDED COSTS analysis

Dairyass thinks the cuts should be deeper from the spinoffs

This is counter logic since during acquisitions we layoff all the efficiency gains, in a spinoff we should gain people due to loss of labor efficiency..... but whatever just please wait until 401k match is deposited please

If MM would ship some product, Aero wouldn't be in such a mess. There's someone who should be laid off.

If they going to do it, it be before Dec 15th to prevent the chosen ones from getting their 401k match.

Employee retention is a serious problem. I expect something like double step promotions to block one folks.

Meaningful work remains scarce. I’m bored out of my mind. Counting the days until I graduate then cya!

I'm am not so sure on the ISC side. They appear to be desperately trying to hire folks to cover positions vacated by those that have left the company for other opportunities. If I had adult relatives that needed a job, I could probably get them in the door.
