Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

It will get better

We are having layoffs, true, but it's not as bad as everybody is trying to make it out to be. Numbers wise, I think we are among the companies with fewer overall layoffs.

And this "never-ending rolling layoffs" thing is pure fantasy. Do you really think we'll have layoffs indefinitely until there is nobody left?

We'll probably have some more layoffs during this month, and then things will go back to normal.

Stop blowing everything out of proportion.

I believe in the theory of relativity - blowing it out of proportion is relative to where you are in the company - relatively easy to take a cavalier perspective to layoffs if you make 43million and or are in favor with the Reich .

things haven't gotten back to normal in 11 years what makes you think things are going to get back to normal this year

Ready to admit how wrong you were? Now the exodus begins. 3 people in my area gave notice this week. I will be doing so shortly as well. Good luck to the remaining staff, may need to learn Hindi if you're in IT to survive.

I would not respond to such a suspicious post by someone who clearly has been set up. People—- be careful. Read the original post again and you should get the drift!!

No you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that AIG is going down the tubes. It's real. Many people are waiting to get RIF'd so they can get there severance and then take a break from the craziness. The morale keeps going down too. It's bad all over the country. I know I need a break once I get RIF'd. This company will have you work all the time. I am salaried and my Manager just keeps pouring it on. Of course she doesn't work like her team does.

what is better - waiting 20 years (almost 1/2 of your working life) for a company to turn things around? or looking/finding greener pastures? you don't have to be a rocket scientist or someone in a high position to answer that.

Yes the AIG way is not professional. They have done lay offs such that you feel like just another number

The grass is always greener on the other side? Wow, this must be someone with a cushy high position with no worries about the future, the ultimate optimist, that is until one day, without notice, they are marched out of their office in front of the entire staff, a send off full of professionalism, it's the AIG way. So, when this happens, ( you will not be immune forever) do come back and let us know how "greener" it is ok?

It has become very stressful. I have seen the blame game taking place as an observer in a claim office. But it's happening within the claims offices and with services tied to claims. Claims Managers are trying to make themselves look good and are reporting things to AVP's that aren't really factual. It's really sad that it comes down to this. There are going to be layoffs until and including 1st Qtr 2019. We are going to be LEAN.

Sure it will. In another 10 years! This is an example where you can learn the grass is greener on the other side!! Stop wasting time waiting and move on!

Not too sure how long you have worked at AIG. Layoffs prior to 2008 were rare. Since that time, layoffs have been ongoing. Most of us who are long term employees are here because we like our jobs. I know that may be hard to believe. It has become a very stressful working environment. I expect the layoffs will continue until some departments are completely eliminated or jobs shipped overseas. Not blowing out of proportion. Just telling it like it is.
