Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

8/3 Townhall

No one ask Brian about layoff, but he did say they will increase hiring oversea folks to keep the company competitive and help them grow. Apparently, we’re a bunch of dumb--s and the real talent are offshore. Such b---s---. I work my butt off for this company. Where’s the loyalty? We deserve much better.

So co is definitely targeting older folks and some of us are not making top pay. But they hire an old guy to drive the bus? He has no stake in seeing co suceed long term. Every time a new ceo is hired. The deal is cut to buy all the baggage they come with. Friends, cos. Board should be relieved. Berkshire should buy this dog but warren is too smart.

So where's the transparency and updates they were supposed to give us. This company has issues with communication.

America bailed out AIG, yet we are being replaced slowly by off shore workers. Can Manilla or the Phillipines help with a bailout? They have lost good business practices and replaced talented and experienced workers with cheap labor so they can continually bring on more executives. They replace good management with managers who do not know about or care about particular lines of business. I hope Karma is lying in wait.

We all seem to be justifying very poor corporate behavior...though logical, we must try to find work in companies that matter, companies who care and companies who are human.

Brian is an old second timer at AIG. Nothing against age. But....He, like most his age, has most of his $ wrapped up in short term cuts, and not in the long term. Given someone his age was indeed selected by the Board, this is exactly the expected. In case a younger but dynamic CEO does think of the longer term, that would wash away anything in the short term.,..that’s why we have this CEO. We would do exactly what he is doing in his place!,

When the CEO pay is so high isn't cutting employees to be able to afford to pay his salary logical? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-27/aig-pays-duperreault-43-1-million-in-first-year-as-firm-s-ceo

What are the details on that 200m restructuring charge?

I was RIF'd a while back and realize AIG is generally keeping the number of layoffs low each time to stay out of the press. Still, why haven't the analysts monitoring the stock ask about layoffs? The last question on Friday's Earnings call dealt with restructuring but Brian didn't answer the question and cut his answer short.

I submitted a question about layoffs, but of course it wasn’t chosen. I want to know now and I have the right to know if you’re going to let me go. Brian didn’t seem to be his jovial self at the beginning, but by the end everyone acts like everything is fine! Wtf? Please tell me what I am missing? Also, why are they waiting until 3rd quarter to do the layoffs? I don’t get that part.

200 million restructuring charge. Just pay it already! It's easy. Just cut a check. Not manually of course! We can't pay anyone to do that anymore!

I concur. Dumb. Rome is on fire and management is fiddling away! Beyond the offshoring, alot of shuffling of management behind the scenes and rating folks for midyears. Just positioning for Rifs late third quarter to boast profitablity at year end!
