Yeah, well good luck doing desktop support anywhere else and getting $62k and 5 weeks vacation.
I got laid off and it was a blessing in disguise. CTL pays IT people like we're all from India. I make way more money now. I feel bad for all of you. Get out.
I am a desktop support tech in mid-atlantic and we were told Monday we are done first pay period in November. There was no offer of becoming a contractor as someone else mentioned.
I heard 90% of the current Centurylink IT will be laid off before next quarter
IT workers let go in our office. Told contractors taking over. They were offered to work for contractors for less pay and benefits so if they don't take it they get nothing (no severance package) because they were offered a job. That is a bunch of BS! This company is all about stuffing their own pockets. They don't care about their employees. It's all going to contractors and "partners." Looks like they are mainly targeting L. Embarq employees. But I could be wrong. I know it's affecting everyone company wide but that seems to be the primary target of layoffs right now. My only question: Who's next?
They are already contracting out at least some of the IT cloud services. We know this because most of the it support people we call about are from overseas. Coincidentally or not, the number of outages we’d get in our systems when we went to cloud based services skyrocketed.
It's an absolute fact, friend.
Find it hard to believe, the number of IT jobs posted is ridiculous. Friends that have been laid off are now going to school for IT in an attempt to get back to this company. Techs and Engineers should be worried, in all regions all states.
Must be a Florida thing?
