Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

AIG layoffs 8/1

Can people please let us know if anything is happening at their locations today?

We know major layoffs are incoming this month, some have apparently already taken place yesterday.

It would be great if we could share info to know what's being hit and how many are being laid off.

Good luck all, I think we'll all need it.

So is it a valid assessment that layoffs could affect all entities within AIG foreign or domestic I’m wrestling with this information trying to figure out if we need to hit a fox hole here thank you

I think that we can all agree that AIG is not the company that it used to be and layoffs are imminent. Getting let go is a somewhat sour experience in varying degrees. I have been there. OK let’s change gears.

This is an excellent job market out there and let’s not lose sight of that. There are plenty of jobs and not enough people to fill them. If you were going to be let go, count your blessings that the job market is so good right now.

I had a very niche job at AIG and I was able to find work relatively quickly. If you get Lego, make your new job finding a new job. Hit up all of your contacts. Flip every stone and leave nothing unturned. If you want something bad enough, it happens.

Since 2008 the executive turn styles have been spinning in high-speed as executives go in and out of AIG. Makes no sense at all.

I think it’s too much for even Duperault to turn around. Sad.

Everyone should stand at townhall tomorrow & ask the difficult questions - how many more executive leaders do we need to hire to strategize and figure out "how for us to make money?" what have you done to earn your executive pay?- we're still not making an underwriting profit. how do you expect to attract talent (without continually overpaying), when there are continuous layoffs & we have an employee base exhausted with rolling change - Ask these questions and followups and stare them down!

Bring your family to work is tomorrow in Ft. Worth. How awful would that be to get let go in front of your kid(s). They probably hold off until Friday or next week.

I'm sure the loses reported tomorrow will be staggering. Heard they were firing anyone who shows up to the town hall on Friday.

Lol! I listen to EVERY single call and webcast that comes out. Year of the underwriter my fat @$$!! We’ve been treated like garbage for years. Nothing is actually going to change for the better. Underwriters are an expense just like everything else. I keep hearing that they are trying to automate some of the underwriting departments, which is why I’m a little nervous.

Probably not. if you listen to the calls...this is still supposedly the year of the underwriter!

With so many working from home, you might not even know that layoffs are occurring. I know plenty o' people who got the call while at home and had their stuff shipped to them after the fact.

BH is where I am and I have heard/seen nothing. Either everyone is in denial or nothing is really happening, although I do always seem to be the last to know!!! Could we just stop the games and have some honest communication for once?!?!?! Greedy corporate bastards!
