Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

This is really sad

Saying youre the 5th largest cloud is like saying youre the 5th largest fast food restaurant. Its not so much as an accomplishment as a plaintive cry of desperation. No one is proud of working at Stuckeys on Route 28 in rural Tennessee. They do it because they have to, (just like people still at Oracle).

Oracle used to be the largest software company in the world, crowing now about being 5th in a race it should have dominated is, well, its just sad.

There are more people running VMware on AWS than running in all of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. VMware on AWS is growing at twice the rate of OCI, and VMware isnt even a cloud!

I work with an enterprise app that uses an underlying Oracle DB or MS SQL. Once those types of products support alternatives like those mentioned, Oracle DB will have indefinite help life.

Oracle Cloud is obviously a failed destiny. Oracle Database is sinking slowly. Just go to LinkedIn or indeed and type for "database administrator", a majority of the companies are looking for SQL or SQL Server or T-SQL expertise. Oracle DBA is becoming obsoleting if those do not have cross skills to SQL Server, PostgreSQL or NoSQL. Companies are ditching expensive and confusing licensing. Even if Oracle aware of it, it is a little too late to do anything. What else is Oracle selling really? The good news for pure Oracle DBA is, moving from Oracle to SQL Server are a lot easier once getting used to the built-in functions and sp_ procedures.

Oracle is Arby’s which is probably an insult to Arby’s.

Oracle makes enemies along the way with customers, employees, and partners. Morales is low with Oracle. VMware has an edge over OCI in term of willingness to do business with customers. They have helped my clients with issues they do not even own such as SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, K8, docker, SAP and etc. They walked extra miles for everything. I got out of Oracle and I see the world very differently now. .. brighter and further! Not only Oracle is failing as a company by comparison, I wonder if they even make to Top 100 companies to work for or Top 100 CEOs, CTOs or COOs. One might think a company that wealthy would secure some spots in the ranking,.. but nope. Oracle was once a company anyone would be proud to get associated with.

5th largest fast food restaurant is too complimentary. It's more like 5th largest DB... who know what that is. And it looks like they are not even 5th depending on how things are looked at.

Oracle is going nowhere. Cloud revenue will continue to decline as Oracle customers flee. Now there are 2 surveys done that say that CIOs look negatively on Oracle and will be moving away from Oracle as fast as possible.

The Oracle brand has been destroyed with dishonest sales tactics and high-paid lawyers trying to strong-arm customers. What ever happened to "the customer is always right"? Not at Oracle, certainly. The motto here seems to be more "the customer can always be scammed out of millions of dollars".

Well, it can't happen forever.
