6hkm - no the business was destroyed by ..

1) killing innovation by offshoring to save money to bad developers who cant develop software much less innovate.

2) overspending without checks and balances. millions per month in Azure for products that dont sell or make money and complete enviroments that dont even support live product, QA or dev...

3) the crappiest marketing team in the history of marketing teams. Cant market and make numbers up as to what will be selling....litereally..made up numbes.

4) An engineering team that cant engineer hardware, platforms nor software but they are primarily in HGR so we save money. We need to slash and burn engineering from the VERY top down FAST.

5) "C Suite" "executive" who arent C suite caliber. they couldn't lead nor manage their way out of a wet paper bag.

Don't get me wrong, Corp certainly didnt help this but the blame belongs squarely on the brain trust running homes now...besides the new CEO these are the folks who killed the brand and the portfolio over the last 5 years.

Nefken is a transitional CEO. He's there for the split only. He's gone within 18 months of actual split. Just my guess.

Who's to blame for the decay? I would say Honeywell corporate. A never ending parade of useless/inept "leaders" with zero fire or security industry experience. These people had zero vision. Zero comprehension of how to apply technology. Embracing the "me too" check box for product features.

The fish stinks from the neck up.

I believe that the new CEO will get the business turned around but there will be a lot of new faces and there should be. He has made it clear that he understands that the business has not performed and fallen behind competitors technology, so hopefully the first people that will be gone are the leaders that have created this mess in the connected home space. They will not be able to hide in this new business the way they did as part of HBT and ACS before that and they will now have to be accountable for the results (or lack of).

I heard Homes is already getting some significant cost cutting targets. Turns out when you acquire companies and cut costs by combining services..... when you reverse that those cuts reverse and you have to spend more..... I bet there will be RIFs in less than six months in Homes across the board in al areas

3fln - I pray you are correct. Are you an insider? Hopefully you have some inside info.

He really needs to start at the top and work his way down. He's being lied to and there's some really corrupt and incompetent id--ts in place spinning numbers and withholding info. I'm sure he knows its bad but not as bad as it really is.

He needs to start in Engineering and Marketing and clear the entire top level and work his way down.

2qpm - Hopeful? Of course we are hopeful. I'm also hopeful for peace in the middle east, an end to world poverty and hunger and a cure for all cancers.

You have a better chance of success in ALL of those areas than with the new Homes organization.

You have a crappy portfolio, An engineering "team" from top to bottom that are absolutely the worst and that cant innovate or write decent software. A marketing team that can't market for 5h1t and a non existent sales team.

Then add you are at least 5 to 6 years behind the Nests, ring, eccobee and other innovates in this space.

Then add to this you are putting the very people who screwed this up over the last 5 years in the same place they were and it adds up for a recipe for a disaster.

If this was where it needed to be or even had great potential to be turned around do you think Honeywell would be getting rid of it?

The new CEO needs to just fire everyone and start from scratch starting with "engineering" from the very top down. There's some really bad things going on there that I am certain he isnt being told about.

A study some years go showed that corporate HQs tend to be located near where the CEO lives, or wants to live.

Ademco.. theres a real contemporary name that just screams tech and IoT. Whats the logo going to be a 'flapper" from the 20's doing the "lindy" and shouting..... Our goods are the bees knees.

I can see it now. The connected Model T...a web enabled Victrola....Ip enabled Ice box....

Im actually thinking theres a grand plan to make this a spectacular failure right out of the gate.....why i have no idea

Should be $h!tco. As long time employee, I have purchased a few items for home, and unfortunately, those products are poor quality. It's embarrassing to be part of a company thats sells sh!t like this. I will never, ever, buy another product from this co, whatever they end up calling it!

1) I thought it was decided it was HMS Titanic.com (add the .com to look like a software industrial)

2) Juarez Factory is going to Homes....so no...Hon wont charge. The good news is no ones buying any of this garbage so manufacturing and distribution costs should stay very low.

3) Sales are down 61% YOY which is scary. We had crappy numbers a year ago so 60% less of that crappy number is truly frightening.

I think I hear Celine Dion singing......
