IT layoffs expected soon. Rumor mill is ripe with layoffs and outsourcing IT work news to vendors.

EIM ofcourse yes. Who said analytics is not part of IT? Ex interim CEO did and he is was kicked out royally in pretext of retirement just like the COO and many other VPs. EIM is over rated and is over budget. No deliverables out of this expensive department and that’s why it’s part of the outsourcing plan to reduce cost.
EIM too? really? They are not IT...
If you did not get the letter, you are probably in layoff list of who to layoff first prepared by your supervisor or you will hang on till you complete your project. Ultimately the end goal is complete wipe out of IT full time staff to cheap offshore vendor labor. Few management staff will be retained on basis of how good they are connected within Molina.
So, what if you didn’t get the letter? I have been applying and interviewing for outside positions. Good luck to everyone.
What other departments, besides IT, got retention letters?
Is everyone getting a severance package?
Also, the original poster here probably means “rife” not “ripe”. Let’s hope that’s a typo and not an indicator of the Molina employees literacy.
"I heard only the Application side is being outsourced. Infrastructure will stay in house." - Nope , heard lot of EIS folks also got letters
How did they get the retention letter? By mail? To their residence?
Other departments outside IT have received retention letters.
Looks like Retention Bonus Program is a catch. What are we signing up for.
I heard only the Application side is being outsourced. Infrastructure will stay in house.
Bottom line.. if you got a letter and you don't sign, you're an id--t. At this point, it's free money. Keep looking for new work during the transition period and collect while they look.
It is absolutely confirmed. IT is going away. Some people have been asked to stay during the transition. No idea what the timeline is but it’s definitely going down.
I’m taking the bonus plus severance. Could be a while until this all finalized and that’s more dough in my pocket.
Yes IT WILL BE OUTSOURCED. Those retention agreements are only to keep you until your H1B is trained BY YOU. This has to be illegal on several fronts.
Thank you for all this information. Most of us have known but good to get the details. Everyone I have worked are all very talented. Remember that my IT coworkers, Molina is NOT your end story. Best of luck in finding new opportunities. The IT market is strong, network!!!
I received the retention bonus letter. I am planning not to sign it as I am critical to Molina and why should I train vendor to gain my knowledge. With due respect to my Indian friends who comprises majority of the vendor staff, I do not want to get my knowledge outsourced to India, Philippine, Mexico or whichever part of the world where management is trying to outsource to save money & impress the investors by artificially inflating the stock price. Molina runs on tax payer money and this tax payer money is being outsourced along with us. This should be reported to capitol hill and appropriate government division awarding contracts to Molina. This is pathetic plan tried earlier at Xerox and some other companies and has backfired. Subject matter experts should not sign and accept this carrot being offered. In the long run, all will be outsourced once training is imparted to vendor being selected as part of the RFP to outsource entire IT and EIM department.
Retention bonus information was communicated to select members of IT staff on Friday, specific details of which were FedEx'd to those employees' homes the same day with instructions to sign and return the offers by Tuesday. No information has been communicated to those not selected for retention offers. It is unclear what transition is about to occur (or the associated timeline) for which Molina needs to ensure a small group of employees will be (at least temporarily) retained.
IT is being outsourced. It's not clear yet what departments exactly. Transition likely to start in January.
Look for another job...I have 3 job offers.... Molina IT is full of talented people...
Not a surprise, but no less concerning and sad. I live right by Press Telegram and Meeker Baker buildings where the IT department is housed. I see young families walking in my neighborhood every day. The fathers/husbands wearing Molina badges. Walking in the evening with their wives and children. I see them on their lunch breaks sometimes. Because I used to work there, I know they are IT guys. Seeing these families and knowing their jobs are going to be gone soon is upsetting. I know how upsetting it is because it happened to me. I don't know what the job market is like for IT folks but I can tell you that for other healthcare professionals, it's not great. Molina's reputation is pretty bad out there. If you haven't already done so, update your resume and refresh your industry contacts. You'll need to network. Don't count on severance as we know some folks haven't been getting it. Hang in there everyone....and this isn't just about IT. We should all realize that Molina is being dismantled in slow motion. Just be as ready as you can be. KEEP YOUR CONNECTIONS LIVE!!!
