Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Nvidia has a massive lead in the next big thing in computing

No surprises there, you got a smart Stanford rock-star CEO vs. a SJSU BSer clown with a penchant for drone-chasing and firing long-time loyal, dedicated employees under the guise of cost savings.

@2eet: No, "copy exact" was Barrets' thing. BK never came up with anything useful in that regard.

@2knb: Jobs is dead. However if he wasn't and ran Intel then you'd be selling highly polished products invented by somebody else. Profitable apparently, but not very innovative.

@ilo: Nailed it.

Intel needs somebody like a Jensen or a Lisa Su instead of a clueless, bloviating clown. Period.

BK is just a freakin' dumb--s. Just watch him answer questions in any former. He gives the questioner that blank, sad Bassett hound look while searching for which lie will be an applicable answer to the question.

Apple and Intel are different companies. They sell consumer products, we manufacture and sell chips. Both need leaders with vision, but we need leaders really understand semiconductor and microprocessor/SoC technology. Steve Jobs is visionary, but I don’t think he is the right fit to Intel. In current situation, we need a CEO like RN, GM, AG. AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm are companies like us, and they have CEO similar to, but at the same level of, our previous CEOs.

Agree with @ksg. BK is an idiot, just listen to his inane rambling at any BUM or analysts call. His only merit or claim to fame was implementing "copy exactly" in the factories.

BK is an idiot, just listen to him! No need to talk about his sorry education, failure to manage TMG or his back stabbing behavior.

Steve if he wanted to start Apple now. He can't. He tries to fool a naive person like wozniak. All wozniak has to do is google and get relevant information. Before it was easier to fool people; now its harder. Plus, people are more aware of the things around them also opportunities. You need to visionary and technically competent. Like Elon Musk.

@1cap - you sound stupid. The reason is Steve though very creative he is outlier in the data set. Things arent same as before. What worked in past wont work in future. It's getting competitive. Next generation is getting smarter then previous generation. There are lot of companies lead by brilliant technical people. Steve stood on technical giants with sheer force of personality. AMD is lead by a MIT PhD grad. Nvidia is lead by a Stanford PhD grad. sergey brin and Larry page both stanford grads their thesis is google's page rank algorithm ! They didn't graduate with a PhD but instead they started a company. Facebook's Mark is also highly educated and pure technologist. Dropbox ceo has a PhD ! Should i go on. Things aren't same the top most people in the firm are technically competent and creative !

@1xdu Really? You actually believe that to be a visionary, you need technical knowledge? So according to you, Steve Jobs was a bad CEO for Apple, and Steve Wozniak would have been a better choice?

Heck, if Woz had become CEO, Apple would now be a minor subsidiary of Dell. Probably just a brand name. Or perhaps they would have become a part of Radio Shack.

Deep technical experts very rarely come up with a great new vision for the future. Technical experts usually want the same sh-- as yesterday, but faster, smaller and with more extension slots. Want to see what happens to companies led by techies? Look at Nokia. Tech nerds populated the Nokia board. Their vision was to keep making the same dumb „smartphones“, only with a better processor and more memory.

It‘s actually an Indian attitude to think that technical experts make good managers. I am scared that this attitude will enter American and European thinking on leadership.

Ah, Americans and their adoration for people from expensive schools. Only Indians are similar in that regard. Perhaps it is something that some cultures adopt automatically when they no longer have nobility and royalty classes, so they create some other arbitrary criteria for some people to be „better“ than others. Not sure how all those highly successful graduates from other schools or college drop-outs figure into this world view, but I guess logic is not considered a critical element by some people.

Let's go back to 2011 when BK was VP of TMG. The 22nm program was already late to production, Moore's Law blown, but you would never know this reading that rag of a publication, The Circuit. The people writing these articles are just like ventriloquist dummies, they'll say anything and everything corporate mgmt hands down without challenge. Anyhow BK was already failing and then came up with a "brilliant" 2 in a box plan for CEO. The stupid board buys this proposal even though it had an opportunity to hire some well seasoned, much more experienced CEOs from tech competitors. These were people who already had the skills to run a company. What did BK have? He had the skills to run a failing organization within a company. So BoD gives him an opportunity to "improve his performance". What a sorry joke it has been.

BK needs to kicked out . To be a leader at the highest level you need a PhD or a BE but have wide depth in knowledge about various topics . The only way BK reached at the top is back stabbing. Ask Renne James about it. They were two speared team but reduced to one. BKs technical knowledge say in hardware or software will be below par . How can he imagine the next big thing in computing !!! He cannot ! Even PhDs have failed to guess the success of NVIDIA !!

Yes. BK has been a stupid choice for CEO since day 1. Also shows the quality of the BoD. A bunch of no names. Even BK is a no name. No quality or successful history behind his name.
