Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

New New Orleans office

So now that DXC opened the new office in New Orleans and has employed (or plans to employ) 2,000, how long before it starts laying off half of them?

I give it six months, a year at the most.

I really hope those new employees researched the company they are joining well before they accepted the jobs.

(UK, so what do I know). But I read New Orleans council paid DXC a $6.5M incentive (as part of a $120M deal) to get DXC to move there. In return DXC promising to recruit 300 people a year for the next 6 yrs and New Orleans believe the the total salary payout there will be $2Billion!? I think they are getting that mixed up with Mikey's stock options.

Still with above average unemployment and low wages, you got to wish New Orleans the best of luck.

Anyone giving it more than 18 months before it will close?

Interesting... I am based in northern Europe and recently our manager asked if any of us would be interested to relocate to New Orleans.. they seem to have reached out globally.. none of us came forward...

GE is gobbling up the grads and have deeper pockets. Desperation is the only reason anyone would go to DXC.

It's part of corporate culture. Not sure why the world seems so shocked at this behavior. If companies kept a mixed balance of experienced, with young innovative staff, along with a VISION, there would be hope. What I see is a company where "pet" staff is selected and they are the upcoming stars. No one else matters. They too will be over 40 and be targets. I wish to work for a company that invests in reseach & develpment. Not a company that considers it's staff "assets". Furthermore, I want a management team that recognizes my ability and supports my career path. Today, management is focused on their so called "up & coming stars". It was stated WHO those stars would be long ago. The rest are pushed to get everything perfect before they are knocked off. It would be disappointing for an EARLY CAREER to spend more than 35 hours a week working. That's what the older staff are for. Not to mention the early career want staff they can throw under the bus and not take accountability for their inability. I've witnessed thus for the last 3/4 years directly.

I expect those won't be laid off, they will leave on there own when they find out that we're so screwed up.

In school you are taught the perfect world and when they get out in the real world they will be shocked and think its only DXC, once they move on they will find out most companies are just as f---ed up with processes and procedures.

WFR'ing workers in Puerto Rico. because they can't work because of conditions.

What we need to worry about is those lower skilled and lower paid New Orleans college grads will take more seasoned, experienced and higher paid jobs from us.

BEWARE

It took about a year and 1/2 before they started WFR'ing workers in Puerto Rico.

So look for Christmas time next year at the latest.
