They said they are rolling this out in July but I know they usually have test stores before full rollouts. As far as I can tell this means there won't be designated cashiers. It was pretty obvious when they started moving registers to the customer service desk and info terminals to the cash wrap area, that we'd just be expected to cover the entire floor. We've been doing that for months anyway, but at least there was usually an actual cashier scheduled.
I guess this means they'll drop an ASM in stores that have more than one, which is a thing they've talked about for years anyway. If there's no scheduling to be done there's nothing for them to do, not that they do much anyway in a lot of stores.
Oh, by the way, CBDMs are going to be a thing of the past. They are phasing them out quickly. It's getting done on a one-by-one basis so you aren't going to hear about a massive layoff. Good luck getting Institutional sales done.
