You can't just buy one person and create some great AI application.

This guy probably has a PhD in AI. He's used to being in a university environment with other people who know the same things he knows. He's not going to be able to communicate with anyone at Oracle.

He was probably hired by a director somewhere above the director that will actually work with him. The director working with him and the other developers may completely resent the new guys' presence, particularly if there is any arrogance on the part of the new guy. And some arrogance seems likely, since he's being paid $6 million and the other people are being paid crap.

The people around him won't know what he's talking about. The guy himself probably knows the logic required but none of the information about how to actually implement some complex AI in the existing Oracle technology. The guy won't be able to just sit down and write everything himself.

The changes required to implement anything will most likely require communication and cooperation between different tech groups at Oracle. The managers involved will want to know "what's in it for them" before they will cooperate. They may actually hate each other's guts and want to sabotage the project by not cooperating.

The upper management, who should be able to work to get different groups to cooperate with one another, will be so clueless that they will have no idea what to tell anyone to do. The management below them, will lie about the project and people involved to the upper management to further screw over the project.

The guy will eventually become disgusted with the whole thing. He'll wait for the end of whatever his contract is to get the $6 million and then he will leave. Whatever pile of stuff is left after he is gone will be attacked by various groups who will want to discredit the guy as much as possible.

And so it goes.... on and on and on..... until the ship finally sinks. This isn't going to work. LE is an idiot.

Bad employees is a result of the acquisition process. Acquire a company, the good employees that enjoy their work and are looking for a challenge leave, the leftover employees who are lazy, corrupt, clueless, stay. There are a very few employees who stay for other reasons, like medical issues, etc. who have good skills. But, generally, good people leave, the leftovers are what's left. They collect and corruption ensues.... how does an incompetent employee stay around? by lying, cheating, stealing, etc.

NEVER in my life have I seen such a disappointment in humanity. The folks at oracle who stay are ALL part of the problem. The “Go along to get along and get a paycheck” mentality. It’s disgusting and tragic all in one.

And this is why the corruption goes on. Weak and feeble employees who don't give a sh-- about anything but doing as little as possible to get their paycheck. When the employees are this pathetic, the management can get away with sabotaging and attacking anyone they want. They know that no one else will speak up to correct the situation. It's a perfectly corrupt society of incompetent, psycho managers as overlords, their follower-thugs and the do-nothing, say-nothing sheep employees.

Disgusting is a good word for it.

Oracle is a great example of what happens when an idiot owner has too much money and no common or business sense. The below posts tell it like it is. Oracle survives only bc they buy and bleed good companies dry to prop up the oracle modus Operandi. Once you work there and you see how it is a soulless beast of an organization with one ambition (led by LE at the top) : symphony off as much money from anywhere you can, innovation and betterment is not even in the realm of thinking at oracle. If you bring it up “the others” look at you like you’re out of your mind.

NEVER in my life have I seen such a disappointment in humanity. The folks at oracle who stay are ALL part of the problem. The “Go along to get along and get a paycheck” mentality. It’s disgusting and tragic all in one.

Congrats on flat revenue and stock oracle. You’ve achieved nothing but cash for a few game playing idiots. You win. Whatever it is you’re playing at.

Get back out on the tennis court and have a stroke LE. MH will save you.

That’s LE’s mindset: most people don’t add value; only a few at the top do and they, of course, are worth a lot just like the 3 geniuses running oracle. When LE gets things wrong, he runs off the tracks into the stands and beyond.

They did the same thing with the AWS developers. The first group of them cost $1,000,000,000 each. The subsequent hires are paid 2 - 3 times the going rate. They're not sticking around. A lot of them leave as soon as their hiring bonus is fully paid up (usually 2 years).

I'm a former Sun Person and When we cut over to Oracle, I just assumed they were well run and efficient. I could not believe how wrong I was. Basically all they really wanted was Java and the rest was a minor inconvenience. They never cared for the hardware business nor did they try to learn. SO they squandered many former SUn Products that should have thrived under Oracle, like Sunray. There is no reason why a Sunray should not have been turned into a POS system for retail or sit at a teller's station in a bank. Ironically they now consider java to be a major inconvenience and are stuck with it.

Desperation. They made up some crap about having wondrous AI (that they, no doubt, don't have), and now they have to play catch-up to get something actually working.

Like hiring the AWS people to "fix" oracle's cloud.

Yet another bad Oracle decision. Glad to see Oracle wasting more money. They've got this really stupid idea that they can just pay for whatever they need. It will be just like every other acquired asset, way too much paid for way too little gain.

You can hear MH and LE now going "that's it, that's it, we just need the ONE guy and that will fix everything"........"that's it, that's it, we just need this one company and that will fix everything"..... never ending, broken record.

Glad for the guy that's getting the $6 million though.

Once he's in, though, we'll see if he really thinks it's worth it. I bet he'll wish he went somewhere else and I bet he doesn't stay long.

Funny, to read that Some times ago mh the turd wrote he wants to hire the best people ( read slaves) at the lowest price. Now he will pay 6 Million dollar a year for 1 guy.

This guy is stupid and have no clue how to fix oracle problems.

mh has to be fired from oracle, he is such an idiot, he should spend less time playing tennis.

Hey Larry Elliparkinson, you can find cheaper tennis teacher in romania or india, even female teachers.

my godness ... so many idiots at at oracle ...

Guess Oracle's current AI offerings are garbage.

Looks like desperation to me. Doesn't matter. As soon as the guy is done it will decay into garbage with no one available to maintain and update it.

More publicity theatrics to distract from the dumpster fire that oracle is and will remain. This person, whomever, has or will be signed up for a big salary and the end of their career. No innovation money or real sustainable organization will be allowed. Just look at NETSuite. It’s dying already. And then look at every other technology oracle has purchased... it hasn’t gotten MORE innovative . It’s just maintained or withered.

SIEBEL —> sales cloud (total crap)

ELOQUA —> never moved to oracles cloud . Still runs stand alone in the original data center

BIG MACHINES —> CPQ cloud , I customizable with a year 2000 era GUI

PeopleSoft —> a cluged up hodge podge of hr tech trying to fake like its “cloud” architecture.

The list goes on and on and on and on and on and on ...

Companies are stupid. They completely outsourced employee development and training, along with customer support, and now they pay the price. Create an AI training and dev program and identify appropriate internal and external people to participate. Bet they all won’t be PhDs but they won’t need to be. Companies need to be part of the solution here!
