Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Why is Oracle like the Catholic Church?

For years the Catholic Church allowed many priests to get away with child molesting. Even though many priests were caught, the church just moved them around to other places where the molestation continued until the priest was caught again. They kept their inside a circle of silence.

Why? Because the priests formed a community of ego-centered psychos who protected one another rather than admit to the sins they were themselves committing.

Oracle Development is the same way in TKs org. VPs, senior directors, directors and managers all protect each other. They form an ego-centered community that can admit no wrong-doing. Instead they set-up, attack and sabotage developers at the bottom of the ladder. People who they know will not be listened to by anyone.

Who would suspect a priest of child molestation? Priests are known to be the best of all people.

Who would suspect a manager, director or VP of employee sabotage? HR knows they would NEVER be the ones who are lying.

Development management is intensely corrupt. It is made up of ego-obsessed weirdos who lie at the drop of a hat to protect themselves and whoever will back them up.

Too bad Oracle development management can't go into the priesthood. Perfect fit.

Yes many are, but many more are older employees who know they work for a rotten company but just want to ride it out long enough to retire. I think everyone knows that Finding a new job in tech when you are over 50 is next to impossible. So they ride it out and hope they can beat the clock. Believe me, most hate how things are, but know they are stuck.

The more clueless sheep there are, the longer the institution can last.

Look at Oracle, lots of employees are clueless and mindless. They just want their paycheck and they don't care what happens to anyone.... until it's them, and then it's too late to change anything.

"Self-oversight does not work. Not for any large institution."

And yet the RCC is still around after 2000 years.

What's clear is that there will be no corrective behavior within Oracle management. Same as the Catholic church.

Self-oversight does not work. Not for any large institution.

As in all aristocracies, the people at the top grant increasing levels of privilege and power to the layers below, in order to ensure that their loyalty is up and not down. The quickest way to ensure you never rise it to let people above you believe that you think the people below are right.

When the layers get too thick, the people near the top increasingly lose touch with the rest of the world, and the organization is in danger. The RCC is a past master at avoiding this part; they've been doing it since the person in charge was called "Caesar".

Meanwhile, no news on impending layoffs.

the RCC and Oracle leadership groups just share some qualities. They’re not the same.

Similar does not mean not Same.

As for surviving, Oracle is going to end up like Smith Corona the typewriter company. OBSOLETE AND DEAD. Meanwhile the Catholic Church will just continue to be.

Food for thought: The RCC has been around for 2000 years and will be around long after all of us are long gone.

Do you think Oracle will last that long?

Oracle & Catholic Church have a Systematic operation to not only sustain the corruption but to enable the bad behavior. Catholics are losing membership & favor in the world the same as oracle is losing good employees and customers . It’s happeninh in mass.
