Heard rumor that if we can not launch HAMR by end of this year. then the team will be affected by layoff. Any people heard similar rumor? Hope that's not true.

Hamr ahead of schedule, game changer future is bright
hamr ahead of schedule
hamr goin really well now, not long til the big launch and hdd domination
ps the robots r here for trolleys
I'll say it again!! Seagate Springtown have not got HAMR working.A long way off from working.A few trial HAMR wafers going through the factory to see if they can figure it does not constitute it working. Also they havent the laser any closer to what it needs to be.Dont let the truth get in the way of the spin by some people in Seagate Springtown.
Tic Toc Tic Toc Tic Toc. 4 months left in 2018. No HAMR in site. Let see a fully functional 18 head HAMR drive. Can anybody even make one of them that can run 24 hours? Is HAMR just 3 years away yet again? Tic Toc Tic Toc
no lies been posted here, don't have time to read screensavers as I'm flat out working, and yes we r doin own lasers and yes hamr does work
Seagate springtown are not making their own lasers. They are at a very early stage of trying to manufacture a laser. They are nowhere near completion. Maybe a few years of getting it anywhere near right. They dont have the know how.Paying "experts" huge amounts of money to try and get it completed. So stop reading the screen savers in Seagate springtown and coming on here posting lies.
hamr launced real soon, springtown now making own lasers its all good
HAMR is behind because people in leotards are exercising in the hallways of Springtown?? Suggest you cut back on the Guinness a bit.
As i said before a handful of wafers isnt exactly ramping it up.Seagate Springtown staff are more interested in getting exercise than the companys products.Thats why HAMR is so far behind their original predictions.A lot of people in Seagate Springtown dont know what they are so its left to a small percentage of try and keep the product viable.
its being ramped in springtown, even doing the laser in springtown and so wat if there wearing leotards in corridor
A handful of HAMR wafers going through trials at Seagate Springtown isnt exactly ramping it up.Stop trying to polish a turd.In Seagate Springtown the staff are more interested in keeping fit than doing their jobs. The corridors are like athletic meets with people in gym clothing exercising.Ive never seen any other Seagate plant that allows this to happen.
Hamr being ramped big time in springtown now ready for the big launch, doin the laser in house now as well
Money from America.....ride the wave!!!
seagate hamr will keep hdd relevant for next 20 years
Oh stop it. The CFO does not pump the company as it's considered unethical. Nice try though.
Wasn’t he the latest executive that promised HAMR by the end of the CY. I wonder what made him to decide it is time to jump the ship after 20+ years. Must have been the Ripple investment.
Good for him. He probably is well set financially and decided 20+ years with STX was enough and it was time to get into a company with a s-xy name and product. Tesla is struggling with an owner who over promises and under delivers and the street is probably signaling they want stable personalities running day to day operations. Let's face it, cranking out cheap drives day in and day out is probably a very boring setting for any financial executive.
...and, in spite of seagate's brightfuture, CFO D. Morton is leaving to become Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer...uhmm??
profits up again, profitshare and payrise, all is good in seagate............Hamr to be released end of year after sucess in testing centres...... as mc hammer wud say cant touch this its hamr time
so stop being a pu--y on here, july 30tth all hands meeting with mosley call him out, i double dog dare ya,
Also look for the post results summary to predictably give employees guidance that there will be a small bonus (last one for a long time?), and little to no wage increase budget. The reason given will be we have to focus on debt reduction. The company owes 5 billion in debt. That's 7+ years worth of ALL income earned. If 100% of income today were used just to pay the debt it would take that long. The company has been pilfered by greedy so bad that it will be a bankruptcy risk in another macro-recession (soon?!).
Seagate will put a positive slant on any negative thing. Its company policy !! The quarterly announcement will be the same as the last .All hype!! How good they they are doing but also how they need tighten the purse strings .Its repetitive and boring.
stww - I'd say HAMR is the quintessential example of smoke in effect, seagate has been announcing the "imminent" commercialization of HAMR drives for almost a decade now. Moreover, judging by seagate's (poor) performance in the development and commercialization of key technologies such as He-filled HDDs and SSDs, if I were to bet on the HAMR- MAMR race, I'd put my money on MAMR. Should add that, at this point in time when I hear the term "seagate technological leadership" the first thing that comes to mind is "oxymoron" (SAD!) ...Looking forward to seagate's "exciting" announcements on monday' Q4 earnings call....not really, enough BS in the news already
There's a big difference between being able to field some single head working HAMR demonstration drives and producing a commercially manufacturerable and revenue generating 16-20 head product that is field reliable. There has been NO actual commercially viable product configuration built, acceptably yielded, and qualified. Show me the money. We don't exist to take a loss and conduct science projects. Remember each and every one of the 16 heads must pass factory and be field reliable or the whole drive is a total loss to Seagate. Where's the numbers showing it will be profitable and the data to back it up? THERE IS NONE.
Pffft, there was nothing new about MAMR in that presentation that hadn't been claimed already. Where are the eval drives? All smoke and mirrors. BTW, hows that NAND working out for you? Looks like it's eating the life out of WD.
WD announced today in the earnings call that they are all in on MAMR and busy ramping up to release drives for production.

Seagate better release HAMR first or it is game over.
exciting times ahead, hamr by December all is looking good
I thought HAMR already works and was delivered to customers. If not yet then what was that blog about?
@TUXREIc-jtja kewl story brah
look hamr works, it will be launched at end of year, its a game changer
exgr,
You obviously work for WDC. Point to one recent article or company statement indicating mamr progress.
Good luck, because there are none.
LOL. Hows Fab6 launch coming?
Another wd disappointment, I'm sure.
Please take your troll additude elsewhere.
ekxx (aka "FatDoosh...") - the talented, high-tenacity, technically gifted people you're referring to are the same behind the "greatly successful" productization of He-filled HDD technology (degree of complexity: greater than brown paper bags, but substantially less than Energy Assisted MR) 3 YEARS BEHIND WD/HGST?
If so, one would be hard pressed to take your comments seriously...who knows, maybe by 2022 we'll witness a great feat of reverse engineering, i.e., the launch of seagate's first MAMR hard drive (LOL)....good luck!
its coming hdd will play major role for another 20 years
cryw (lol, that nickname suits you) - - It takes time, talented people with undying tenacity, and technical acumen to develop an entirely new technolgy not to mention the manufacturing process to support it.
If you'ld rather produce something easy, like brown paper bags, then go for it. I'm sure you would be good at it.
The folks that supported HAMR will be rolling in bonus dollars very soon.
It has ben HAMR time soon since 2011.

It is about to be HAMR time. Get ready.
@TUXREIc-bhzo ...I saw the corridor getting mapped three years ago,but funny enough i didnt see it get mapped today. They are just little projects to make people look like they are actually doing something.Alot of people in Seagate Springtown are stealing a living.Four shifts and six shift managers?? They spend fortunes on projects that will never come to anything. Its a joke.
STX strategy working. Stock outperforming competitors. At the end of the day, the finance geeks and enginerds are there to make sure investors are happy.
saw the corridor been mapped today for the robot
