I am kind of new to COP and wondering if my Skype status is used to assess my performance here? I heard that it is used in Houston office unofficially. I try to stay online as much possible but I wonder how this is met by people working in field.

Skype status monitoring is entirely between you are your supervisor.
Just like some supervisors judge you based on if you are sitting at your desk - everyone has their own style of deciding on how much you work.
Place your wireless mouse on an analog clock in your desk drawer. The moving second hand will create false mouse movement and keep your computer awake. Status - available
KT will work hard and go above and beyond the work-ethics to make sure his - gangs of “managers” - are still running around.
Success in Technology is very subjective, they can always say we tried it but it didnt work. Always get away with it. Now try that in a Business Unit and see what happen.
There aren't many losers left!
The best and brightest are not oromoted to management???
Never interacted with KT in any level but the people he hires and appoints as managers are so pathetic (not trying to generalize) just look around you, they do stand out.
I guess I blame KT for appointing the old garbage from his previous work places.
It’s funny that when you mentioned alcoholic moron, I immediately thought of KT. At least I’m glad to see there are not multiple alcoholic morons running around, or is there???? Realistically, he’s no worse than any of the other VPs running around in Houston...
I used to work at this $hit hole, and we had a pathetic manager in technology (who was an alcoholic moron) he used to tour around and check on us whenever we appear away or offline (btw we were actually do some serious work on the cluster or Linux).
So pathetic, I guess that is what to expect from managers in technology! (Working for KT).

You shouldn’t have anything to worry about as long as you are at work doing what you’re paid to do.
I work in IT and yes that is one of the many spyware tools the company uses. I'd be more worried about the keystroke and screenshot monitoring processes running on your comouter, though.
Thank you, I get the sercasm but didn’t answer my question.
Good for career are....
Never admit you don’t know or were wrong.... BS if you have to. ...Talk bad about your competitors (peers) so you’ll look better. This works well at COP.
Job performance is 100% based on how successfully you brown nose and attain a powerful mentor above. There’s a lot more wasted time, paperwork, and bureaucracy, but there you have it.
