Digital transformation like I said before is bull sh-- marketing term. In a Town hall the other day someone asked how is Digital any different than what we did in the past and the big shots hosting the call took a few minutes before they came up some bull sh-- answer.

I’m extremely glad I’m not only one with this view on digital. I was beginning to think it was me ageing badly! I’m my view the only digital transformation happened about 40 years ago when Casio bought out a digital watch! The rest as they say is history! Now I’m only worried about the huge amount funding digital is getting with a tiny tiny revenue stream! #biggestbitofvapourwarethereis

What is digital transformation?

Well, essentially its taking all of your systems you've had since IT became a thing and ripping them up en masse and replacing them with new systems that work better together.

Of course DXC and other service providers want their customers to fully buy into this dystopian nightmare because it means completely refreshing customer's IT from top to bottom in one giant refresh.

Swap all of your stuff out in one go.... what could possibly go wrong...

I guess the best example would be TSB Bank in the UK. They transformed their banking system and transformed their business too - from working to broken.

Digital transformation is the term used to try to persuade conservative over cautious risk adverse management to gamble it all on a single roll of the dice.

Could you remind me again when computing changed from analog to digital? I remember the light Tubes in radio and CTR in television - so that was analog, but that is already long time ago.

could someone inform dinosaur Mikey that we already reached the digital area for quiet a while?

Getting a digital is the same as it has always been. You drop your pants and bend over a whiskey barrel while the doctor is pulling on a rubber glove. You then get “digitized”.
