Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Can we get more info on IT layoffs, please?

How many people were laid off? Is it done or will there be more notifications sent out this week?

Somebody already asked this in another thread but they didn't get an answer, so I was hoping posting it separately might get it more attention and hopefully a response.

Are layoffs done for this round or more expected this week?

Take the comments here in stride, if you get canned this week. But, keep your voice ! Add content here about your experience and to Glassdoor.com types of sites. That way as AIG starts to court NEW people, they see some history.

If your manager is exceedly dim, like mine, he has already scheduled 1 on 1 meetings with targets for Wednesday AND invited HR. Genius!

I am not sure who has started AIG 2020... I guess the main aim is layoff...Should start with their own team it fails.

Yes. Much is being moved to Manila for the 2020 cost initiative. We have been working with them for about 18 month and if you think IT is bad whoa! Overall just too agreeable to a fault. But you get what you pay for... US IT needs to be more accountable to the business to be effective.

If anyone's getting chopped it's gotta be IT. All of that can and should be done overseas.

The unceremonious way of layoff is too brutal. wish things could be done in a more humane way like call the person and let them know at home or something

What do you consider core IT services ? Storage, BAR, VMware, VDI, PMO, Audit, Devops, reporting, Tech Bar ? Storage and MF is already managed as a service from my understanding.

July 11th is the communication date for RIFs. Confirmed by multiple sources. Impacted managers will be notified starting 07/05/18. Meetings already scheduled where they will get names and script to go through by HR. 07/11-13/18 is the reckoning for 100+ folks in NY, NJ and FTW to be mostly impacted. If you aren’t a core IT service, you are sunk. Collect your vacation hrs, 401k and other details in Workday prior. Collect your things days before, get any of your things off company computers and cell phones. People will be unceremoniously walked out, no goodbyes. Good luck!

July 11 is the day. Sadly, a lot of good people will be let go, but better to get off the Titanic now than to ride it to the bottom.

Former AIG-er here, RIF'd in 2017. Just spoke with a friend in IT. RIF dates confirmed for 7/11-13/18. No more detail than that. That said, begin looking and start the process ... if you haven't already.

What does the head of programs even do. We have a saying in my department. "Better them than me". This place is the real survivor.

WOW...I just found out the head of programs was let go today. Now the keep the all the assistants around. How do they have a job when the let good people go. I don't understand that, no real consideration for the rest of us

Your CIO is an auditor that alone should give you a pretty good idea about the state of your IT organization and the direction you are headed.

The AI team hasnt had work since April. Completely disconnected from IT core services. Good people, horrible management and no leadership. I hope they get to see the management walked out first....
