Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Layoffs hit this week

Hearing the range is 600-800 range (rumor!) although nothing has been posted on the California WARN site yet (which only identifies those laid off in CA). As I understand it (but cannot confirm) is that part of the reason Hitachi Vantara layoffs give 1-2 months on payroll (plus package) after layoff is so they can delay reporting until those impacted are no longer active but still on payroll. Sales got hit badly. As other posts note, engineers were hit earlier.

Morale is in the tank, badly.

Good luck friends.

Yes, significant number of employees downsized due to continual challenges in the storage industry and attempts to transform into an IoT leader. According to Gartner's magic quadrant, Hitachi is no longer a leader in the storage world. So, declining marketshare in a declining market with declining industry leadership.

Yes, there were layoffs on both this past Wednesday and Thursday. I was told roughly 300+ positions were eliminated. Sales was not as impacted as much as other groups. There were some sales terminations that were performance based. A lot of these eliminated positions were with the European division.
