Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Does State Farm has re-hire policy?

Some companies have re-hire policy where if a position is open within a year of being laid off, those who were laid off have to be hired before it is available to other outside applicants.

Is there such a policy at State Farm? I've been trying to find some info on it, but I was not able to locate anything.

I would drink battery acid and snort Ajax before returning. Anyone who subjects themselves to repeated abuse needs serious psychological therapy.

I don’t see SF rehiring a 6 figure salary employee they just gave a year and a half severance to leave. Besides, they are already hiring kids that haven’t graduated high school yet to replace the college graduates they just kicked to the curb. Quantity over quality is the new priority.

It's just our resident troll. He has a signature posting style that's clear as day. Whether he's a true mental defective or just plays one on the internet is irrelevant.

LOL at the guy who thinks we all live in Bloomington.

After I was termed, it took me all of 2 weeks to get two job offers (both better than the salary I was making with SF) and to accept the one I liked the best.

No, I would not go back to State Farm.

Man, the internet is a wondrous thing. Idiots like the guy who made the ignorant post I'm responding to are free to spew nonsense without anyone knowing who they are.

You spewed:

"Most of you are full of it. You'd come crawling back in a heart-beat. A) 90% of you locals would never leave McLean County. B) at most other companies you'll have to actually work hard, not walk in with your newspaper, head to the cafe for breakfast, then sit at your desk paying bills or watching youtube... But keep talkin big."

hate to break it to you Sparky, not everyone who works for the farm is in Bloomington (Oh HELL no to that move, or to any of the hubs)

People have been laid off multiple times and hired back multiple times. I'm one of those people. Although, if they tried to pull me back in again, I would decline. It is not the same company anymore. I quite simply do not want to work there anymore.

I have seen it happen at companies I worked for, prior to the farm, but why would you want to?

Almost no company that I am aware of would hire back a laid off non union employee for the same job at least. Most companies won't bring them back for any job. Think of the potential legal implications to lay off and bring someone back. Companies will often state that employees who are to be laid off can apply to other jobs in the company, but again HR has to do a lot of paperwork to justify laying off this employee and not someone else, and they are not going to risk a lawsuit down the road. They tell employees these things because it gives them something to potentially hope for as they are shown the door.

But use some common sense and realize that if you are laid off, you need to move on. This advice of course does not apply to bargaining unit employees who may be under a contract agreement.
