Thread regarding Barnes & Noble Inc. layoffs

Shocked this didn't work (not)

So, instead of solving one of the real issues, such as reducing corporate pay, spending less on secret shoppers and signage, bringing back full section specialists, Barnes & Noble laid off people who are in charge of getting books on the shelves. And now they are surprised it didn't work.

And instead of learning from their mistake, wanna bet they'll try to fix this with more layoffs?

When will the next lay off wave of full timers with benefits occur?

I am an ex-employee. I was laid off when B&N closed my 5.5 million dollar store. I was with the company 22 years. My advice for everyone who is reading this thread is to ACTIVELY start looking for new employment. B&N was a wonderful experience but I found FT employment with better hours and pay. I took the severance pay years ago because I knew this day would come. The skill sets you have acquired at B&N will serve you well but leave NOW. It is not going to get better. B&N is going to use PT employees who don't care and don't know books. B&N is culling the employee roster for its most expense employees. Those are the people who have been with the company the longest. If you are concerned about random conference calls then it is time for you to find a better organization who deserves your talent and loyalty.

You know all these posts they say "just quit"....they want you to quit to save them the money. You are going to get laid off or fired regardless when this company goes belly up.

LP is bored and trolling. The company has been doomed for years. I hope you're brushing off your resume.

NO it is not working! Have a look at the district score card. Every single store in my district is at a loss for the quarter in almost every single department and category. No one is late to the game, the issues are continuous and ongoing. Customer satisfaction is at an all time low. And since they fired the best performers memberships are way, way down.
