Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Friday the 13th

Usually I'm not superstitious, but State Farm seriously messed with my head apparently. I'm now worried that tomorrow will particularly bad day at the office.

Can somebody make me feel better by telling me that no meetings or layoffs are usually happening on Fridays, no matter the date?

Are you sure they aren’t idiots? All evidence points to them being absolute idiots.

In response to @SEA8EY5-1kgv- my opinion- they know exactly what they are doing and doing it all at once to make sure not everyone jumps ship. I believe they know if they did it little by little in once department at a time, they know people would start hunting other jobs and the impact of losing even more people would mean they might not have enough rank and file to get the work done. This is the only reason i can think of why they taking such wide spread measure. While we know our executives are not the smartest people, they are not complete idiots. I'm also guessing consultants recommended this course of action. No longer the good neighbor (specifically did not use capital letters because it is no longer applies).

@1ewi: No, not management, trying to inject a wee touch of humor. Apparently you missed that.....

420 = Pot reference. Really? I'm over 50, don't smoke, and I even know that. Are you in management?

I have worked for a few large companies in a previous life. I have never seen anything like this. I can’t fathom why our Executives would consider this effective change management with large scale reductions in so many departments all at once. Someone should do a documentary on this it’s like a really bad series of reality tv. I am pretty sure this will be documented as what not to do in future business courses.

Is Tipsord trying to get his own reality tv show?

Was 420 the former number of the room at Corp South that no one wants to ever reference?

So what’s the deal with the number 420. Or the date 4/23. ???

The proximity resource site now says that responses to job offers must be in by 4/30. I would suggest that means that offers will be made on 4/20 (no way, those that are younger know what 420 means and SF will NOT be associated with that number) or (more likely) 4/23. That would give everyone a week to mull over their response.

They are almost always done on Tuesdays. All the execs play golf on Fridays, no need to worry about tomorrow.
