Boycott those pesky automobiles too. They're scaring the horses.
Scan & Go / Self-Checkout is for the associates and then the members that are tired of being hassled with credits and upgrades plus the five finger discount members too.
Busiest club in our market went from 18 registers to 6 with 8 self checkouts....Watch the shrink go sky high
We can barely keep any cashiers.... Use those positions to help out in other area of the clubs. I'll always use self check out. Self checks out also let someone who might have a health restrictions to watch over the self register area.
In next 5 years there will be very few cashiers. As more self checkouts are installed ( 1 person can over see 6 -8 registers and the self checkout wont call in) and more scan and go being used there wont be a need. If yiu havent seen the new Amazon retail store you might want to look it up That is the future
When the UPC barcode was invented there was a reduction in cashiers because the time it took to scan was far less than handkeying... The point I am making is that technology will always win over a few people making a point to not use it. Also, look on-online shopping as a killer of cashier jobs (Amazon, EBay, Snap-On, Jet, etc.)
In June 1974, one of the first UPC scanner, made by NCR Corp. (which was then called National Cash Register Co), was installed at Marsh's supermarket in Troy, Ohio. On June 26, 1974, the first product with a bar code was scanned at a check-out counter. It was a 10-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit chewing gum.
That’s so true and scan n go
