Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

I'm done

Cenovus has a way to make it seem as if they are right on track with today's market yet with all the cuts in budget and resources your job security is flimsy at best. There is a wave of fear around the departments on who will be next.

Upper management does nothing to alleviate this fear, but has instead chosen to remain disconnected with their employees because they are more concerned with their own welfare. Morale is at an all time low with so much indecisiveness yet through it all worker bees are trudging along keeping their head above water. I wish them luck and hope they survive the next round of layoffs. As of yesterday I’ve given my 2 weeks notice.

Lol, yeah, that was dumb. Sally and Jerry are getting $40k severances while courageous anonymous sits back for another 10 days and bleeds out for free. Clearly you don't work in finance...

I’m so disappointed in how this has all gone done. Ex-COP staff were pumped to move to CVE initially and it’s been straight downhill since about October. Everyone now has to suffer over the bad decision management made (overpaid by at least double in my opinion). Too bad, everyone I work with is good and I’m sure heritages CVE people are good too (not that I’ve met anyone, the no integration thing is so weird). The new CEO is doing what he has to do, I get it. But in the meantime, the stress level at work blows. The survivors of Feb 7/8 are going to find themselves doing double the work. I’m very nervous and can’t wait for this all to be over :(

This company is about to fall apart. They are loosing 500 million each year before the year even starts with their hedging and building leases that no one wants.

Not to mention that they have now laid off the staff that knew how to do the job but have still kept the folks that have no idea HOW to do their job and take credit for work they never did because they s--- up to the boss.

Anyone remember "more2thestory.com" - I think someone dropped the ball.

Good for you. Yup that’s what they do. I didn’t talk to my boss for about a month prior to being laid off. I don’t think he could face me.

Op, admire your courage

Before layoffs, management always do the same, isolate employees, workers, to create fearful environment

With aeco gas at $2, game over for DB and 1.5bcf soon comin from BC montney, natgas prices will collapse

You have taken control over your path, and admire your determination

Long run, you win

Good luck
