Why does a company encourage its workers to burn time on social media?

dont use DXC facebook even a single time
I got a very useful post on how I should walk in the snow. Basically telling me I should walk slowly and not slip. Damn... if only I had known that before now. The best thing is the post got many "thumbs ups". So, obliviously many DXC employees are so inept that they need information on how to walk on snow and ice. Anyway, it obviously keeps someone in a job! F@cking hilarious. I'm crying on the inside though.
the answer is simple... why? Because it is a blablabla company.
Soon there will not be any skills left, inteligence will need to come from the 3rd party partners, and the only thing we in DXC need to know is to talk and talk and talk... not knowing what we are exactly saying... Like Mikey
Seems like a waste of time, not going near it.
Okay so brand ambassadors got the email about volunteering to boost DXC profile on social media.
The management are clearly out of touch. There is absolutely NOTHING going to DXC yet these dumb f---s think that they can get the very people they want to get rid off to use their own social media account to lie about how well DXC is doing!!!
Facebook can record chats without the user knowing. It is clearly a privacy intrusion tool without the DXC employee knowing. Carefully not to use or even login to the DXC Facebook, you have been warned ...
Possibly to hide the fact that contracts are being burned at a whopping rate, so better distract the sheep with something in the meantime.
Most of the content on the DXC workspace is corporate fluff along with corny inspirational videos and pictures that normal people roll their eyes at. It’s a waste n
I am dropping increasing numbers of contacts on LinkedIn because of the increasing number of "look at me" postings from DXC contacts.
People with nothing to say themselves but constantly issuing repostings of other people's tedious little homilies and fireside advice on life, career and family to clutter up my timeline.
If I see another trite "teamwork" video clip of squaddies getting over a 12' wall or labourers pile driving a pole in with their combined weight I will scream.
What I don't understand is why we now have multiple social/collaboration tools and no clear strategy or direction about which one is to be used for what. SharePoint, Yammer, Teams and now Facebook.
From my experience across industry, Facebook for Workplace becomes just another Facebook. Little business value and just another source of photos of food and videos of cats.
Simple - because it thinks that the end (results of collaboration) more than justifies the means (encouraging workers to use what is, in effect, an internal instance of Facebook).
