Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Cobra Medical while on RIF problems

Well seems Honeywell selected a most incompetent web site for us. Maybe even for current employees. It took about a month to get on the website since they couldn't find me after the Rif. They tried to bill me for months that were already paid in 2017, about a One and a Half weeks to fix that. Then the upload to pay directly from the bank took more time but finally went through.

Then when that was all settled to pay it out of the account information that I sent them I had to re-enter all the information again instead of just selecting the account to use like 99% of other web sites. It's almost like they don't want anything to do with continuing your medical/dental/vision etc.

So if you get riffed and have to use Cobra for awhile keep on pushing that web site and check it daily.

Also if you use your cell phone and are in AZ it's legal to use those apps that record the calls with the web people. Just in case they promise something and it gets screwed up.

Good luck to those of you that will be getting laid off.

I had issues with Cobra through Honeywell since Jan of 2018. Payments sent, cancellations, money returned, phone calls, reinstate, send money..repeat! Finally called the Department of Labor DOL and they resolved with Honeywell within a week after hassles for over 8 months...former employees are entitled to 18 months of Cobra...call the DOL if you have had enough!

Every time I go on the site I take the survey and they get the lowest rating. No invoice info on Feb 1st to pay for my Cobra. Never had that problem with Hewitt.

Conduent which took over Honeywells Hr for cobra etc. Is the worst possible company. Just proves Honeywell has total disregard for their retirees and anyone who will use Cobra. I would only wish my enemy to have to deal with incompetant Conduent. Another screwed up outsource at the expense of people that have given years of blood sweat etc. To Honeywell only to be screwed over. Not at all surprised to hear more layoffs even though the new tax plan helps corporate. Another screw the empoyees. Very sad that Garrett turned into blood and life s---ing Honeywell.

First off, let's not conflate COBRA with RIF. If you get RIFed, then you can keep the company insurance for whatever period you're on severance, up to the end of the month during which your severance ends. After that you can go on COBRA, generally for a period of up to 18 months. Which you can also do if you resign voluntarily outside of a RIF.

As far as the payment service provider Conduent, I agree with the assessment here that they are not very good. On December 26th, I had not received my invoice for the January premiums. I went through a lot of hoops to get them on the phone, and mailed a paper check marked with the account number they gave me. I left on a trip the next day and when I returned on the 31st, the invoice was in the mail. On Jan 2, I was able to get my account online and saw that my payment had not been credited, so I made an electronic payment. By Jan 4, both payments had cleared my bank account. I received my invoice for Feb yesterday, a bit earlier but still not allowing enough time to be assured that the USPS would deliver it by Feb 1. Also, I found that only the online payment I made on Jan 2 had been credited to my account, but not the paper check. I made an online payment to make sure that February is covered, and then answered an overly burdensome number of questions to prove my identity to call them up. Supposedly they are now tracking down the earlier payment I made by check so it can be credited to my account.

The the date on my invoice for Feb is Jan 12. I doubt that they actually mailed it that day, I think that the USPS is better than 11 days particularly when it's not December. Suffice it to say that I am not happy with the service Conduent is giving.

yes, this new company Honeywell found to administer the insurance benefits s---s. It should never have this many issues. So anyone getting Riffed and going on COBRA this year, WATCH OUT. Don't trust and always verify what they say on the phone. Don't lose insurance because Honeywell chose a bad company to manage payments. A cynical person might think hiring this company was a deliberate way to get people totally off Honeywell insurance.

I retired in April 2017. I was on Cobra and on January 1, 2018 HW went to a new company to manage. It took me 10 calls and after three weeks into 2018, they finally got me in the new system. I paid my January premium at the end of December and it took another three calls to get the payment transferred to the new system.
