Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Recruiter Inteference

There seems to be a lot of interference in regards to IT recruiting at the home office. A lot of qualified developers are being rejected instantly. Someone should take a look at what the recruiters are doing especially Jillian.

You’re on point on the market, and it’s a good time to have money in there working for you. Regarding the actions by claims, and the influence on the stock price, unfortunately, there’s nothing there. As a lifelong claim person, I want to believe we have a big influence and create a big advantage, but the reality is, it’s marginal. Most of the loss ratio is driven by frequency and the influence of the expense impact of the layoff ( maybe $30 m ?) doesn’t amount to a rounding error in a company our size. If we beat our severity plans by a half point we might realize another $20-$40 million. None of it is enough to influence investors and move the stock price. The analysts know that.

I’m a bitter guy as well and I’m not even sure what he’s trying to say, perhaps that the stock growth won’t last? If that’s the case then I agree to a point. Since I retired and invested my severance and pension I’ve made more money that when I was working because the market is at an all time high (none of my money is with Allstate). I do however believe that Shapiro has sacrificed everything in order to drive the stock price and it will not be sustainable, he will take his golden parachute and leave when his poor decisions catch up with him.

It does speak for itself, but as usual he doesn’t have facts. The Allstate share value has appreciated and provide a greater return over the past 24 months than the Dow or the S&P. Fact. If you were in Allstate, you made a bunch of money. Yes, of course it will go back down (brilliant analysis), but it’s been a great ride for those smart enough to get in.

Another well thought out articulate statement by the Bitter Guy. It doesn’t require a response, as it speaks for itself.

Your focus on an auto correct error speaks volumes about your character. Just for clarification you are a “boot licker”!

As soon as I figure out what a boot locker is, I’ll let you know. As for your “bright future “, your continuing bitter negative posts suggests otherwise......a guy who didn’t make the cut, and is stuck without a clue.

I assure you that my future is brighter than yours. You are a pompous, know nothing a-- who has no idea who you are dealing with. Escaping Allstate was the best thing that ever happened to me. Good luck in the future boot locker.

This guy (the bitter guy) sounds like a union hack. “Da man is keeping me down”. Takes no responsibility for his own performance or future (or lack thereof).

The fact that you say you NEVER met a manager you respected tells me that either: a) you have a very limited scope of experience with managers, or b) you were a horrible performer with serious behavioral deficiencies that resulted in performance management issues with all you encountered.

The statement goes to your credibility and says it all. Thank you.

You are right, let me narrow it down. I never me an Allstate manager that had any balls, just a bunch of boot lockers. They lay hundreds of people off on a conference call, that says it all. This is a layoff site, I don’t need a response from any boot lickers.

Of course you didn’t. Leadership requires balls and hard work.

And now you’re out of work.

Wonderful choice. Your family must be proud of you.

I work for an organization of 16,000 employees that has laid off ~350 employees, putting aside rare office closings, in the last 35 years. Yeah, I’ll take those odds. I’m pretty confident in my job. And if technology acceleration puts mt job at risk, I’ll get a better one.

They are here because they have no confidence that they will have a job much longer and are waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I love how so many people who weren’t layed off are on here shooting off their pompous mouths. It speaks volumes about how confident they are.

Sounds like you should be working somewhere else too. Why do you people waste your lives working in a place you don’t like or respect ? Life is short. If your not talented enough to work elsewhere, that should tell you something, and you should s--- it up and shut up.

Maybe he just wants to skip the step of getting hired, working for clueless, cutthroat, self serving management and then getting cut when his job is outsourced to the lowest bidder.

This is a forum for Allstate layoff’s......not for wannabe employees. Check out the thread site dumbo. I know you want to get someone’s attention, but those people aren’t looking here.
