Anyone know what’s going on in Phoenix today?

Heavy RIF rumors- has it started yet?

About 15 years ago I needed a network jack enabled. HON turns off unused network jacks after so many days of not being used because, well, security I guess (because if you wanted to put a rogue device on the network no one would ever think to unplug an active port or bring in your own hub...) Anyway, I submitted a ticket to get it turned on. Figuring I'd make it as easy as possible for them: I provided the number from the panel, the number (and color) of the specific jack, and even the column number where the jack was located.

A day later I received a call from the out-of-state IT department. "I understand you need to have a network jack turned on... Can you tell me the number on the panel and jack?" OK, I thought, everyone has a bad day once in a while. I provided the information again.

The next day I received a call from the local IT representative. Same question. I provided the information a third time. This is getting ridiculous. It couldn't possibly get any worse.

Later that afternoon a different local IT person stopped by my office. "I understand you need to have a network jack turned on... Can you show it to me?" Ugh... Really? I took him out to the column I listed in the ticket and pointed to the jack. He wrote down the information (now the fourth time it has been provided to IT).

Amazingly, within a day or so of that visit it got turned on.

The lesson learned: Never think that it couldn't possibly get any worse because HON always finds a way to lower the bar even more.

My site manager did a Minneapolis factory tour and thought their IT "Hot" board was awesome, he wanted one at our site. Didn't realize that our IT guys didn't give a crap about our systems, let alone answering a "Hot" issue board.

Tell me about it!!! Whenever I hear the term "call the help desk and put a ticket in" part of me dies. Calling the "helpless" desk and talking to someone in Indiar who barely speaks English was the most painful thing in the world. Now when I hear "put a ticket in" my answer is, well, guess this is never getting solved because I'm not going to be bothered to call the helpless desk and put a ticket in. I'll just deal with the problem.

I really miss the days when IT department were actual Honeywell employees, felt like they were part of the team and were motivated to be proactive, responsive to other department employees and REALLY HELP get things done and solve problems. The past few years with IT being outsourced it has been a really mess - it is a hinderance to get things done, get IT to return phone calls promptly, understand issues, work to improve things, etc. - at least here in Deer Valley facility (AZ). The amount of time employees are wasting contacting IT, recontacting them, just dealing with slow systems etc. because they know contacting IT is more bother than it is worth is bad...stockholders should be angry at the high paid Directors that run the IT "Department" by basically hiring contractors and then letting them bill for providing little and poor service.

@2zug this is a system problem at HON. They have been promoting dipshits into high level and important positions for years and now the chickens are coming home to roost, as it were. The people being moved up the chain are the some of the dumbest, most inept people I have ever seen and I've worked for the government! When you can move up in a company solely based on who you know or who you blow, that is a sign you now work for a 3 ring circus. TM, MM, HP, these are all giant dipshits who I wouldn't trust to run a drinking fountain much less a complex business requiring intelligence. These 3 idiots barely have enough sense to come in from the rain and they're in charge of a multinational company. Makes you wonder....

2wwb - I agree. Not kidding but MP, TG, TG and LB who run IT under KM are among the worst "leaders" ive ever seen anywhere and not just IT. A real clueless and talentless bunch. If thats whats going to be left after the rifs best of luck.

Seems like there were a lot of RIFs globally this week along with the Pheonix one. Does anyone have any updates or rolling counts?

The IT department is basically VPs and Directors managing contractors - unfortunately the contractors in recent years are pretty bad. For such a big company it is amazing that we have such a weak and u responsive IT department. It is honestly to get things done promptly, they don’t answer questions or get things done. Ever since we no longer have IT employees and went with contractors it has been a mess.

@1jiy, no, dipshits are never part of the RIF. They are the ones directing the RIF so naturally, they'd never think to RIF themselves or their overpaid dipshit friends. Ironically, it's the same dipshits running AERO into the ground which are responsible for the RIF numbers. Honestly, I'd be afraid to start my car if I were any of them.

Phoenix could be Aero or IT or both. Rumor is a lot of IT to be gone by March 31 because Darius was not happy with their performance. Problem is the VPs that decided on the design of the Org in Corporate will all be staying. If IT is so bad perhaps Krishna should retire with the Logistics VP too!!

RIFs are not a rumor. They're beginning this week and continuing until there are no more HON badges left. Then they'll start RIFing the "expensive" contractors in favir of even cheaper contractors, and so on and so on.
