My husband is an ASM - he has worked hard to get to his position and been with BN for 12 years. I have read posts here that the ASMs are next in the lay offs and I just checked BN jobs and there are only 2 ASM positions posted ??? That is scary, there used to be as many ASM positions posted as any other position. Please if you are a SM and know that this is going to happen, let us know. I don't want my husband to go through what the RM, HC and Digital lead went through on Monday. I feel so sorry for these people, I knew most of them. Please if you have any info let me know or at least tell me what you think. Thank you.

I agree with the posters above. The way these layoffs happened was deceptive & unfair. Employees with 20+ years with the company, the most knowledgeable & valuable, were discarded like trash, so what makes anyone think ASM's are safe? I would advise anyone to start job hunting now!!! I've seen a pretty big decline in customer store visits--some days it looks like there are more staff than customers, so the evidence for the decline in business is unmistakable. The writing is on the wall: Save yourself. Think of yourself first, because BN will can you at the drop of a hat to save the Big Fat Cats at the top.
I'm not a SM but I do think that the next round of layoffs (which will probably occur second quarter following the inevitable first quarter closings) will hit the ASMs (well at least those stores with two ASMs--one will be let go most likely), café leads and/or children's leads. Tell your husband to do what I am doing and start looking now. seriously, I'm not sure if the company is going to last much longer which is sad to say.
I’m a current SM, and all I can think to tell your husband is Get Out. There are no ASM positions because all stores (the ones that are left after the first round of closures that are certain to happen in the next couple of months) will be at one ASM and maybe two Inventory and Sales (Fmr MM). That way you have 4 keyholders, but only two actual managers. It’s a nightmare. The last year or two has been hell, but nothing like what’s ahead. Tell him to get networking and get out as fast as he can.
All employees should be looking for new jobs. We used to think the company would have 2 more years but after this past holiday, everything has changed. Don't trust anyone, especially the District Managers!
