Why are we the lucky store that gets to keep our RM??? The guy is obnoxious and completely useless. Everybody has to work double to make sure everything is properly taken in and dealt with due to his incompetence. And yet by the end of the day yesterday, he was still here. Why???

Let go as RM after a total of 33 years (25 since rehire after the Bookstop layoffs of '92). Luckily I was planning to go part-time at best by year's end at 59 1/2, so it's just early into that stage of life.
Packed away my personal tools (needed them to repair the broken-from-overloading H carts) and headed away. Going back in tomorrow to see who's working I didn't say so long to, and see if they think they're prepped for inventory on Thursday. Just finished redoing carpet in our store, so I doubt we're closing.
It' s been a long trip from Bookstop to Bookstar to Barnes & Noble becoming synonomous with "bookstore". I hope if they stay alive in some form, I get the 'Golden Lifetime Discount' card !
Wow, sounds a lot like our RM. But ours was let go. Not saying he deserved that, s---s for all. But he was a miserable person on a good day, so I'm not missing him too much.

Many who have been with this company for years.
It’s just amazing how every company will slit their wrists by layoffs to bled out the very people who have continually shown their worth.
While bringing on new Directors from outside the book business to establish new programs such as Loss Prevention. Whose objective is to have in place a plan Incase of a cyber attack.
Truly the greatest loss is your staff.
My boss told me that RM’s stayed in $8million stores. Ours was half that, so I got cut after 11 years.
So basically, by doing his job for him we ensured he stays on? Talk about adding salt to the wound...
I heard that it had something to do with how much your store made. Like, that was what determined who and how many people were let go at each store.
