Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

The wait is nearly over

Word on the higher up street is RIF begins next week. Just FYI for everyone living this day by day uncertainty. It will soon be over and for those let go, you can now move on to a better life. For those that remain employed with Honeywell, sorry. Maybe they will catch you on the next round.

Really? Heard from several different sources - completely unrelated - that it was this week. There is only one day left. This is rediculous.

-3fyc. It’s still early on the West Coast. Give it the day. I know of a few people who have HR meetings (unexpected) today. We will see.

Wait...I thought Honeywell was transitioning into being a "software" company (!),

So that means, only if the software is done in foreign nations using cheap labor. I guess with some in Atlanta, but they'll probably feed that operation with H1-Bs, if they're not already doing it.

@Qxt @vtr @ @1hci

No trolling going on from me.

The RIF which I and @1qqt @1ihh are referencing is one that is known about, and already posted about on this board involving a two-thirds rif of US and Can software tools associates.

If you don't know about it already then, count your blessings, it means you're not going to be impacted by it.

Those of us who do know about have been hanging in limbo since Jan 18th, and are more than ready to have the axe finally fall and be done with it.

-1qqt. Thank you! As one whose whole department is being outsourced; one who is right now staring RIF in the face; single income family and pushing 60- your words of encouragement are appreciated.

30+ year career has been great with the exception of the last 3 years. I’m worn down and worn out.

I just wish there was a viable option for affordable health care sans RIF. That is my biggest worry.

And yes, I am a little scared and a lot pissed off- and even more sad.

There is no trolling in regards to up coming RIFs. Yes there are more RIFs coming, per a HR manager I met with last week. He stated there will not be the large single RIFs we have seen in the past, but rather smaller quarterly RIFs to deal with staffing at locations and departments impacted by ongoing globalization, with the quarterly RIFs only impacting those location with no big announcement.

Since all meetings (now) seem to be in-person and with no paper or electronic trail, it is rather difficult to provide the concrete proof the deniers always look for. I could give the date the HR rep name for the meeting, but then I might swell also give my name and single myself to be fired.

I will give the best factual information I have, but I'm not going to commit career suicide to do so.

The only advice I can give is the everyone (which is same for my self) is to continue doing the best you can at your job, stop complaining, and start interviewing for a new job as soon as possible rather then after a RIF. I have seen too many people hanging on to get just two or three more years until retirement, only to be walked out far short of that goal. In each case they landed in a better position(pay and benefits), and age did not seem to a issue in finding work.

Good Luck!

No more than speculation. These rumors come & go. Let’s see an email or some kind of communication otherwise stop the BS.
