Lol that company just can't catch a break. Terrible PR issues and the worst culture in the industry.

Maybe.. but why not wait until the week after? The optics is just terrible when you layoff some of the nicest leaders in finance the day after Alex's memo. These leaders hired half of the comptroller team and have served the company 20+ year.

So where is HR’s accountability in this? I’m not so sure Alex didn’t know but now has to react? Maybe there was a good business reason for the layoffs yesterday. Maybe they all thought it would happen quietly and respectfully to all parties. Maybe.

if the CEO wants to run an accountable organization he needs to make an example of this rogue exec.

You must be an executive at Cenovus to draw that conclusion. Because one side is field and the other is office, automatically there's no connection...

That or you are trying to justify that it is OK for the Ceo to say one thing and do another.

Have some heart for the ppl still at cve offices, and those affected by the tragedy on the field.

Delaying field layoffs made sense. Delaying office layoffs makes no sense, especially in finance.

When the executives are not aligned and it is made public via media you know it is time to run for the Hills. At the end of the day we are just a commodity to these big corporations, s---s but that is the truth.
