Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Do you get your PTO if you quit?

If you quit without notice do they pay you the PTO you have built up? I really thought I would be laid off, but have decided this is not the place for me. Too many layoffs, going back to stability. Before anybody comments on not giving notice I don’t care if I burn this bridge I will not ever work for Humana again had I known about the number of layoffs in the last year or so I would not have hired on, I do not want to work for a company who hires people and lays off people at almost the same time.

Right you can get your PTO if you have 1 year of tenure. If you dont give 2 weeks notice your coach will have to mark in the system that you arent eligible for rehire and if other employers call for reference and ask if you are eligible for rehire Humana will say no and your potential employer wont know the reason..BUT.. this isnt the right time to say that you are going to quit.. You knew that RIFs were coming and you could have volunteered to be RIFed and someone could have been spared... Just saying..

You are hired at will. All that will be impacted is your rehire status.

I would give 10 business days (2weeks) notice to be sure. I quit a month ago and gave 10 busisness days notice, they release me a week earlier and I got my PTOs. My effective day of release was the one I notified them of. Check with HR also.

If you hold any kind of professional license, you might really consider giving notice, just in case theres any risk of implications coming back on you.

Company policy says you get pto paid out if you have been an employee for at least a year. Less than a year you get nothing. It doesn't say anything about whether or not you give notice. Good luck
