Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What's the latest on layoffs?

I've been checking the board, and very little has been mentioned about layoffs lately. I'd like to take that as good news, as maybe we are safe at least for a bit, but when it comes to Honeywell, I know better.

So I was wondering if anybody new what's the latest on layoffs? Do we have any indications on when the next round is coming?

@5thb What I am hearing is that those impacted by the 2/3rds layoff of North American EOPS tools group that is mentioned elsewhere on this board will (should) be announced early next week. Along with the knowledge transfer schedules for those who's positions will be offshored to India/P.R./Mex.

Not saying that is the only thing that will happen next week; just a lot of indicators that one will be.

I believe what is coming next week February 12, 2018 is the flow down of budget go gets. Things like how much to reduce travel and other expenses. I know the Corp level OEF (RIFs or. Layoffs) are to be about 5-10% which is probably about "normal for HON". Next week those numbers will be flowed down through layers of management and reorganizing planning will begin. RIF timing.... I'd guess April and May with all before December 14 so there is no 401k match to payout in January. So nice that they are holding our match ransom while the market I heading down for dollar cost averaging

I'd expect all sourcing to go to Mexico, all accounting to go to Mexico, all Customer service to go to Mexico.... you get the idea....

5axc - something big? what is getting impacted? what business and function? some detail would be appreciated.

Hopefully they start hitting the corp level hard very soon. Useless blackhole projects and lazy/incompetent teams should be next (we hope) like Sentience or something like that which no one would feel yet would show a tremendous save and save jobs of those who actually contribute to the company.

A lot of silent Riffs have been conducted. You hear about a few people being let go here and there. Seems to be a constant pruning going on. With our new EEI incentive this year and numerous new PIP ready rules, they have every excuse in the book to look for ways to zero out your raise or flush you from the company. The latest 401K squeeze has me starting to look elsewhere for work. I have lived in fear long enough, now, frankly, I just don't give a damn. That in itself, is very empowering.

It will happen.

Waiting for the next shoe to drop in the Buildings / Homes split. The question is: how many feet & shoes does the beast have?

From our bloated layer of middle managers I keep hearing the same thing. Too many people and neither organization wants them.

@1zoy. Amen! Put us out of our misery! Only hanging in for severance at this point and trying to stay healthy!

23 years in and 60 years old. Last 3 years here have been hellish.

Work has been light at the beginning of the year in my area of Aerospace division. We aren't allowed to use indirect time or the "metrics" count against us. I could see layoffs coming to us as we have ticked off all our customers.

There will be many more RIF's in HSF prior to the spin. The HC for the new company is much higher than it can support and they will want to reduce the HC prior to the spin off so that they are not immediately RIF'ing people in a new public company.

HSF is Hon security and fire HQ'ed out of LI with old fire HQ in CT.

VSZ - were those all global roles or US only? possibly in preparation for Spin?

I think you're not seeing anything because, by and large, we're not hearing anything.

Our group is due to be reduced by 2/3rds as announced in Jan. We were given a volunteer by date of Jan. 24th, and have heard not a single thing since then.

@EDR - for my part, I wake up every day hoping it's the day! I'm looking forward to it.

Most band 4 and above (targeted for RIF) will be laid off end of February to avoid giving them their bonus in March. (Bonus earned over the previous year, mind you) Beyond that, everything is pretty quietly chaotic in the PLM/ EOPS world.

I think they are keeping the stress level high and daily suspenseful, knowing all the health problems this causes people.

How many of us wake up every day and wonder “if this will be the day I am rif’d” ??
