Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Wrong to continue to hold us to work

Why are they holding us to work when we could be looking for another job? We have already been informed we are impacted, so why not let us go?

Some of you have wrong information. Get with your assigned HR rep about the specifics. It was very clear in my RIF meeting the process to expect. They took a long time with us and made the process easy to understand. There are also a series of webinars daily regarding this process. Your leader should have the schedule of meetings. I recommend you attend one ASAP because they go over a ton more information, including PTO, 401K, etc...

When they notify you your position is being eliminated, you have 60 more days in which you are "required" to work. What I was told is that my leader is the one who will determine if and when I am no longer needed for my role. I was told in all cases, however, we would be "released" two weeks from the last date of employment for which we were notified, so we can focus on getting a new job. So, my last date should be December 20 roughly, because I was told my last official day is in January. I was told my leader would determine going forward from the day of the RIF meeting to the December 20 date when I was no longer needed. HR said if I was needed I would work as usual, normal role, normal metrics, business as usual. If my leader tells me tomorrow I am "released," this means that I am still a Humana associate until my January date. I no longer have to report to work, answer emails, compile my reports, etc...When you are "released" you are free to seek employment elsewhere. Even though they might be working w/you to get a new role in Humana, you can do what you want during this time. You can start a new job outside the company. You do not forfeit severance or your PTO. When you are no longer needed, go. It seems like there is false info, rumors, etc...circulating here. If you are impacted it is imperative you understand your rights, because one wrong move on your part, and Humana then will have the right to terminate your severance offer. Please read the massive packet that was mailed to you and seek legal counsel if you don't understand it.

As for being released early, some of you guys mentioned your leaders might release you this Friday. I pray for this for me too. I would love to have off Thanksgiving and Christmas with pay. That would be the only thing I am Thankful for. Thankful for a new job opportunity in 2018!

I was impacted and have received my separation papers. We don’t sign and send back in until Jan 2, which is the end of 60 day notice. Then severance starts.

You will still recieve your servance if you get another job “outside” of Humana, even within the 60 days. If you take another job “within” Humana, then you start that job and you will not get severance.

Did you see the email today that RIT is being eliminated? It said all those members in RIT will be back on our rosters on Fri. 11/17 for two final attempts. I wonder if they expect PHCs and CMs to complete those attempts before they let us go.

That is right what the poster stated about not finding another job before signing your severance notice. Does anyone know how Humana can check that? Does anyone have any concrete information that they can provide? I have applied for a few positions and I would hate to lose an opportunity waiting around for Jan 9th. especially if we are released next week.

"Risk your severance if you find work before your 60 days are up".. How does Humana know if you have started another job do you really think they cross check if 1300 people have found employment before they sign their agreement. They wont and they arent losing anything in the deal. Why be honest with them? Was they honest with us when they decided to let 1300 people go at the holidays? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You can apply for work and start any time you want, just forfeit your severance. Officially you can't start work for another company during your normal work hours until your 60 days are up. You could risk severance.

Have those of you affected by the RIG or opting for early retirement received the separation papers yet?

Thank you for the info. That’s all I was looking for was just an idea so that I know how to prepare, for when I do get called for an interview. They will need to know my start date. And, I prefer to start working as soon as I can, to not fall behind on bills. It wasn’t my choice to be without a job. I can’t afford to wait and have a work gap once severance has stopped.

From what I understand, It'll likely be next week as the last week for any RIF associates. Everyone being re teamed will be notified next week, and will be on their "new team" as soon as thanksgiving is over. RIF associates will not be required not return from thanksgiving holiday. That's not official yet, but should be on Friday once they work out the details

Right! I want to work for a company that appreciates my hard work. I’m ready to be cut loose too. Who wouldn’t after what they have put us all through.

It’s been a very stressful year with all of the layoffs. I agree, they should just let us go. I’m ready to work where it’s a happy place to work. Anyone would be ready to leave this environment that’s to the rude person that commented on here.

I’m not whining. It’s just frustrating because our rosters are low and stressful trying to meet numbers. Anyone that speaks to a person as you do should not be dealing with the public. It’s good you were let go. You are a mean, cruel person and any company wouldn’t want a person as that to be calling their members.

When the workload is light enough to be absorbed by the remaining staff you will be released. Get your work done!

Why is it wrong? Every large company is legally mandated to give you a 60 day notice? Why should they pay you for work not being completed? Why do you feel entitled to that? I just don't get it! I have been impacted but don't sit around whining that I have to for the next 60 days. I am thankful for that pay. You could leave now with no pay if it's just that hard. Grow up!

Yes, true. I’m just not understanding their point to continue to keep us unless they are hoping we get so frustrated to quit, or to get another job offer and we won’t get the severance. That’s the only reason I know to keep us. I’m just feeling frustrated because it’s hard enough already to continue making calls and metrics with knowing I need to be finding another job ASAP.

Hopefully it will be this week! It is so hard trying to stay focused on mbrs when you are stressed about finding a job during the holidays!!

You are free to go. But if you want your severance you agree to stay. Just hold in there.
