Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Good Job

I was employed at Capital One for a few years. Every day there I wondered why Capital One was in the mortgage business. The company overall is great; however, mortgage was the most poorly ill-conceived segment. The lack of mortgage programs available where dismal. Management was lacking any cohesive vison. One day it was “Beat Quicken” to “Let’s WOW” the customer to one more short-sighted campaign after another. Never seeing anything past a few weeks. The culture was one of always looking behind you if you got on someone’s bad side. Management was sneaky and if anything happened it was never their fault. Management never took any responsibly, it was always the processor fault or the LO’s fault. No responsibility in actually managing anyone other than the people they wanted to manage out. I watched people work as little as they could but the person next to them get ridden because of managers ego conflicts. There was no accountability toward the managers nor subordinates. Ultimately the borrower suffered. This was not a merit based company. You were promoted on how much s---ing up you did or who you knew or pals with. In the real-world people are promoted via production so they can teach others how to generate more production. The lack of leadership from the top with Eric down lacked any charisma and did a poor job of veiling the dysfunctional culture. The call center Loan Officers where paid a ridicules amount of money without generating their own leads. Overall, this could have been a great mortgage company but the people involved ate it from the inside out. Either they understood that it would be short lived or their incompetence allowed them to think of aloof ideals that never materialized. In short Capital One was not merit based company with deep pockets whose management was incompetent and sunk the ship. Good Job Eric, Sonu, Rodger and the rest of you clowns.

This is what happens when management has never done any work but they read reports. The company fails because management has no idea how to actually work, they go from one hare brained idea to another without actually knowing if any of the ideas will actually work
