Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Hey Glenn where's our $1,000 employee checks?

So us employees withstood barrage of emails asking for us to support the Tax Reform bill in our work email, and I did.

Comcast, AT&T, Sinclair : all giving their employees $1000 checks for their support

our checks In the mail? We don't all own stock as part of our Allstate compensation that's goes up when you layoff employees FYI, every little bit helps.

Merry Christmas!

Hey Bitter Guy.....I’m one of those “old time wisdom” “crusty paradigm” guys. I’m pretty sure I can buy and sell you 3 times over, and if you want to compare degrees, I’ll bury you. I don’t know what your deal is, but whatever your issues are, stay out of my sh--.

I’ve got to weigh in here. If that bitter guy is working for the same cash every year, he’s either stupid, or doesn’t have value in the marketplace.

If you’re not getting your $, you gotta go. Lot of hiring going on out there.

In response, my increases have been phenomenal (one might say better than expected) over the past few years. I’ve contemplated other offers (I’m contacted by head hunters), but I’m doing too well here.

The same bitter guy wrote the last 4 posts, and, surprise, he agrees with his bitter self. Don’t worry about me. Not only could I find another job at my advanced age (several offers recently), but I came to this company with a far better education than you (sorry, but your grammar and inability to compose a simple sentence gave you away), but I have post graduate degrees. No English major here, just the simple ability to string together a couple of words to articulate a thought.

If you really want to make Allstate better, go over to AT&T and take a shot at one of those bonuses. Oh that’s right, they went to union employees, which is what you sound like.

English major sitfu. This is an informal board. Actually 25 years? So you hired in with that HS education in cursive and didn't need bachelors and masters in business or risk management just to get interview? You are some old crusty out of paradigm (uh oh big word English major) lifer who had never struggled like young people or newer employees are struggling. You would never get another job at your age in free market and I imagine you've never had to compete since Allstate became your nanny. Don't confuse bitterness with wanting to make company better or maybe you think any disagreement means go get another job. Sad.

Thanks for sharing. Very eye opening. I see same trend redefine salaries as low as possible and every nov some new bad news on cut benefits. It's easy to distinguish the workers at Allstate (news flash : disagreeing = does not bitter) from fluff jobs. we could be so more leaner and efficient without 10 levels of worthless management jobs.

This is informal board. I'm sorry you majored in English summa cum laude but ad hominem (whoops sorrry go google quick!) attacks are lame. NO ONE has responded with any reward why management at Allsate has not decided to share tax relief with labor like the other watershed companies.

I'm sorry you were and English major what a waste of money, I understand your anger and bitterness.

Yes there were several. No Iie, because you didn't receive doesn't make it a lie. And kook aid drinkers your time will come. The "53" year old martyr ok so you joined Allstate who it was a mutual company or part of Sears? Newsflash the working world is brutal and I get it you have HS education or were army vet so you got hired but you are in the crosshairs of this new model and good luck finding a job when you are let go. Enjoy that defined contribution pension too. Omg idiocy of old timer wisdom or HO drinkers amazes me.

This thread started because question was proposed (some poster felt syntax was subpar so sorry didn't know this was academic journal) why multiple companies are sharing their 1120 corporate tax relief with their labor and instead some old 'state cronies say you're bitter or go leave. Couple posters see thru bs and affirmed don't hold breath for handout I won't. Sad the 'state is behind the times. apologists (oops big word! Is syntax ok?) are mgt or HO employees guaranteed,

I will s--- it up buttercup like always have for many years, doing the actual work that supports you flakes in mid management. - fin -

A question many Fortune 100 company’s are going to have to answer. I think what you’ll hear is; “we regularly benchmark our total compensation plan to ensure we’re competitive”. If we’re not, we adjust. I don’t think one off, knee jerk bonus’s will be a part of any benchmark. (AT &T has a merger petition before the Trump administration justice department......what a coincidence). It would be nice, but the shareholders also have a say. Those are their dollars being given out. Yes, for those posters that complain that decisions are made to the benefit of the shareholders, they do own the company.

All of it.

Ok. This page “exists”, because it was created by plaintiff employee bar groups, for any company that they hear has announced lay off’s. They are the sponsors. You figure out why they created this forum. It’s not Allstate specific, they’ll create a board for the employees of any employer that announces layoff’s.

As for those that “troll”, you don’t know that I’m management (not), or one that thinks everything is terrific. I also know that many on this site never worked for Allstate (obvious by some of the statements), or are still disenfranchised employees, meaning, they weren’t laid off, so it’s not just not impacted ex-employees.

Anyone that has to come to a page called "The Layoff" a page by design will be full of disenchanted people and defend the faith has obvious insecurity issues. If you going to work everyday still gives you that just fresh feeling, why to do troll here and tell the majority of the people to adapt, endure, and overcome. Shouldn't it just be obvious. Go back to your excel charts and hope for that 2 % raise. If things were so terrific this page would not exist.

So many have already “spoken with their feet” that they have to have DEs and Pilot adjusters looking at claims. Spoke to a Pilot adjuster who said he hasn’t done anything but clean up the messes created by QFC since it started. Great way to run a company. Not interested in hearing the opinions of those who are stuck at that sh--hole, I actually feel sorry for you.

Wrong, miserable one. I’m a 58 year old employee with 33 years experience, who chooses to evolve and adapt, rather than crawl into my hole and commiserate about the good old days. I’ve had ups and downs with the company, but if I felt as miserable as you do, I’d be gone. Yes, there are options. If you have the balls to take your shot. Do you ?

Employees speak with their feet; customers speak with their wallets. Until either or both walk, the vast majority don’t buy into your misery party. Customer retention and growth is on the upswing, and every employee feedback survey reflects the VAST majority of employees are very satisfied.

Get over it. We’re not going back. Move on.

I see a 20 something with his head so far up his a-- that he can’t see that the company only cares about making obscene profits with no regard for employees or customers. At least you admit that the poster has a “miserable destiny” as does every one who still works for the company.

I just read that as AT&T was handing out $1000 bonus checks to some, it was laying off 600 employees. Ironic, in that Allstate’s decision to lay off 300 something employees is what triggered this board.

If you want to participate in the bonanza, buy stock. Company’s are much more likely to buy back stock, (reducing the # of outstanding shares, raising the EPS, and driving up the stock value) than hand out one time bonus checks. That’s how you participate in the benefits of tax reform. Become a shareholder.

I see a 50 something, bitter, stuck in a rut employee, who is miserable with his station in life, and feels the need to lash out at those (millenials, “HO types with fluff titles”, “mid level managers”) that have taken a shot. This guys doesn’t have the balls to take his shot, so he’ll sit out in Who-vile and snipe at those who now control his miserable destiny.

That’s what I see.

No, I do not work in H.O. Yes, i’ve been here 25+ years. I’ve held several front line and leadership jobs. I know the people in HO work in the same salary structure as the field. If you’re envious of them and you want to work there; go do it, there are lots of openings. If you don’t have the guts to make a change in your life, s--- it up.

I’m shocked at the attacks (yes, often grammatically incorrect with bad syntax) on HO employees, millennials, and anyone else that doesn’t fit neatly into the posters little world. (Let’s see, hired directly into the company with little or no previous corporate experience, one job for the last 20 years, coddled by the same CSL, and now unable to cope with changes that all companies are forced to make to compete) When I’ve been unhappy in a role or job, I’ve gone out and gotten another, within the company, at some personal risk.

It seems the answer here is to sit back and anonymously attack.

Yes, have the guts to make changes and influence your future, or s--- it up.

Sadly any tax cut will go to dividends to the stockholders, incentives to upper management, an upgraded home office luncheon next year (prime rib will back on the menu), support staff to the energy for life personal trainers and technology that will attempt to reduce labor costs and jobs. The job analysis a few years ago defined or rather redefined your net worth and that is it. You want a raise, interview internally for another job, as my CSL suggested take a job in a lower pay grade and work real hard and get raises that way. I suspect it is not just this company that will be "hiring and giving raises" they are all going to pocket the money. So, I hope some you have company stock in your 401k, that is where I hope we see the impact.

@QRRUK3M-1nkv is an English major. Wait it's coming to me ... You are a ckaims manager or home office acronym. Gotta be if so worried about syntax roflmso. Should I use APA or MLA or Chicago style guide so you can argue a point versus a lame attack on illiteracy? I'm not bitter I love Allstate but home office needs an enema--that's a metaphor so you understand try to keep up. Your time will come don't worry but until then argue issues not personal attacks @hole.

fyi I am the OP I did not post the other post. Illiterate I see ... Ad hominem attack you dumb f___ you understand that illiterate term? I'd love to know what you do I've lurked on this board since layoffs and see workers who post and I then rewd what has to be worthless mid manager fluff people that are out of touch with company labor and seem to attack every issue brought up by an employee that isn't some Kumbaya fluff position as "negative."

Im embarrassed when I read posts on this board 1) because why are anyone but low level workers on a board regarding layoffs, are you seriously a higher grade and the great "transparency" of your mgt position hasn't assured your job security that you have to come slum with the true producers of the company who pay for your fluff job? or 2) Like another poster stated are u so out of touch that you come to this board as your "barometer."

There are great people Allstate, dedicated and smart careerists. The company lost a lot of their expertise when they decided to cut salaries and move to a defined contribution pension but that was part of legacy forecasting. However, in my 20 years I and everyone who is a true producer had come to realize the flab of mid management at our company that produces nothing but knows everything. There are millenials in Northbrook training field managers who have been in their job longer than the change agent has been alive. And omg, is HO out of touch and full of idiots with fluff titles who need

to change things constantly to justify their meaningless jobs. I would bet you, @QRRUK3M-1nkv fall somewhere in this mess since so threatened by my post, that's ok, in a few years Northvrook will be gone HO moving to NC or who knows India but hopefully Allstate will join 21st century and get rid of the muffin top mid mgt flab that does nothing but create acronyms, pretty .xls sheets, and hold meetings re agents and claims i.e. The people who support you. You are an embarrassment.

When I read your posts I feel ashamed that someone in our organization hired an individual that’s borderline illiterate (being kind with the borderline). Attempting to pose as a second poster is a transparent attempt to create the impression that there are two equally illiterate employees in the company........a stretch.

Quit, bitter person. Before you’re outed as the illiterate under performer you are.

You are full of s___ or trolling for a lead. 3-4 went out. Fu go ask your coworkers or maybe you're IN mgt and they only went to the workers at the company. others will confirm they were sent out on more than one occasion asked for employee support for the tax bill.

So what's your point? Your a mushroom so the OP is wrong we don't deserve benefits more enlightened companies provided? Ok HO s--- up go away why are you on this board? Oh yeah you will be in Dallas or NC in < 5 years start packing roflmao.

Hey fellow Allstater nice to see a post from someone who actually produces and supports the company (in other words an agent or claims rep) then the kool aid drinkers and home office apologists who surf this board because they are SO out of touch with the people in field who are killing themselves so they can make CI pretty .xls sheets at home office and justify the bloated middle mgt at our company who wouldn't have JOBS without our work. Thank you for speaking truth now watch : the home office s--- ups who have no idea what it is actually add value to company will pile on. If we could get rid of an entire range of worthless HO jobs that have to justify themselves by changing things literally like a pendulum we would be leaner and meaner. More doers and less fluff mid managers. The enema of Allstate needs to be in fat a-- middle but will never happen.

Still waiting on they check Glenn... Mgt sent me at least 5 emails telling me to do my part so live up to example set by Comcast and AT&T, instead of just lining your pockets hypocrit.

In b4 "quit bitter person" hey : fu I need a job and if you are in position of authority with "CI" you would take this comments down and research them instead of hate attacks.
