Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Hey Glenn where's our $1,000 employee checks?

So us employees withstood barrage of emails asking for us to support the Tax Reform bill in our work email, and I did.

Comcast, AT&T, Sinclair : all giving their employees $1000 checks for their support

our checks In the mail? We don't all own stock as part of our Allstate compensation that's goes up when you layoff employees FYI, every little bit helps.

Merry Christmas!

Do you idiots really believe a Fortune 100 company would “target” highly paid employees, so they could “fill their pockets” (????!!!!?????). Do you have any clue how many lawyers, HR managers, compliance managers, etc. have to sign off on something like this ? So this was a conspiracy of hundreds of employees in claims to save a couple of bucks for a $30 billion dollar company ?

It makes me question our hiring process.

What you, and others failed to mention is location, or geography. Yes, they need fewer adjusters with most drivable cars moving from Drive In to QFC. If you now have 5 adjusters in a market where you need 3, first, you better be able to estimate non drivable cars. If not, you’re gone (newer employees). Next, performance rating (some tenured employees). Lower rated employees were next.

NO ONE had access to salary information. Fact.

After reading posts i can disagree and agree. First off many people that were laid off were tenured employees that were exceeds and dpa winners. Some were hired less than 10 months also. I feel sorry for all this happened to. I believe that they took out new and tenured employees that were at high pay bracket or maxed out and still 5 to 10 years from retiring. They did not layoff anyone that was 62 or older. They did not do this because why pay severance when they would leave within year. Additionally employees kept that just returned from medical leave. All layed off employees were sent packet of employees that were layed off with job titles and age so that theyhave case to show employees not targeted. They also held severance check unless signed release received that you would not sue. So in a nutshell. They did not just layoff short term or employees that were long term not doing their job. They did target high paid employees long term exceeds so that the pocket books could be filled. But in having done so only left the clueless behind to try and hold it together until they get virtual assist and texas and north carolina fully staffed. They are also sending auto managers from north carolina to train employees in India. So i would have to say to all left Watch out and hopefully when axe falls you will get severance

" You don’t like it, I get it. But you can’t stop it by whining in a blog." So riddle me this Batman, if you are put off by disparaged people on a blog which by nature will have negative connotations ALLSTATE THE LAYOFF why are your here. If ya think it is so neato back at the homestead why don't just stay on the company web pages and have a Badge Fest with the other Lemmings. BTW you get nothing.

I was an auto adjuster that transferred into an LDU unit when we downsized the auto unit. Best thing I ever did, especially this, winter. 3 other auto adjusters also transferred inside.

I’m not a CSL, but started my career as an auto adjuster. I know the job VERY well. All jobs can be impacted by advances in technology, including an auto adjuster.

Comparing one occupation with another that has been impacted by advances in technology (use bank teller if you’d like, travel agent, stock broker). Like it or not, everyone’s world is going to,change. You don’t like it, I get it. But you can’t stop it by whining in a blog.

Comparing a toll taker to an auto adjuster....you must be a CSL since you have no clue what the auto adjuster position entails.

Do you think the guys that usd to sit in toll booths all day and collect quarters talk about how much their customers miss them with this new fangled open road toll technology ?

If that’s the right thing to do for customers and shareholders, they should. It’s stupid talk though, they’ll always need some level of field staff.

We’ve always used independent adjusters to inspect claims situationally. If there isn’t sufficient claim volume in a market to justify a full time employee, an independent is an option. If there are regularly 3-5 claims a day, you employ an adjuster.

You may also lose an adjuster (or more), and you use independent’s while you’re hiring and training.

Been going on for years. Nothing new here.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Allstate is hiring independent adjusters too look at field claims?

Why, then his page will be another Voice Survey in which leadership will be praised and upper management extolled. In my CSA leaders with good Surveys are viewed with suspicion for not leaning on the employees enough. Thinking the real name guy has a huddle to go to ponder the next great thing. Be a force for Glen on or something and think about the real root cause.

Yes, and working at This Great American Insurance Company has been and honor and a privilege. Working late and long to deliver the promise and all. I have no expectation that my hard work, LOYALITY and dedication should be rewarded beyond the biweekly paycheck. I honor, preserve and protect the shareholder interests at all costs. When all is said and done after winning a DPA and being told I was the best of the best of the best that my services were no longer needed, I understood my company needed to no longer need me and returned my laptop a bid a bittersweet fair well. I have no expectation of employment and have a resume updated let loose upon the job market at any moment. Yet when asked fall on my on sword for the great good of lower fixed operating costs the blood that will flow from my veins will be blue and white. I will give my all and ask nothing of return ever as I am first and foremost CLAIMS. Remember Kool-Aid comes in many flavors.

More importantly, what did you do to support ?

One final thing. I’ve never thought “my job was safe”. Ever. I know the company’s strategy, growth trajectory, profitability, could change in a heartbeat. I’m not owed employment, and have always tried to maintain my value in the marketplace. If it happened tomorrow, I’d move on, maybe for the better.

Yea, and the first thing I would do if I were to file an EEOC complaint is admit I was going to retire anyway......

Retired leader here (no severance, no bitter, just retired) who had several impacted adjusters, all newer adjusters. I know the impacted adjusters in other markets in my CSA, and they were also the less tenured employees primarily. Based on what I was told, tenure (and rating) was a part of the ranking, meaning you were rewarded if you had it. If you were tenured and didn’t make it, you probably had other issues you don’t want to talk about here. Understandable.

Good luck with the “went after the old guys” strategy.....I’m pretty sure the lawyers had that covered.

Zero bitterness here. .......but “self illumination “ ? People throw out EEOC complaint without understanding the process or potential outcome. Bitter Guy has also acknowledged he has no damages (retiring anyway), which are a necessary element of any civil legal action.

He guy, who hates Bitter guy. Why so personal ? He or she feels they may have been civilly wronged and are investigating their options. As far as what an EEOC complaint will get him or anyone who cares, It is obvious that it is annoying you and that is worth something in it of it self. If you believe that your are on the side of righteousness and thinking that is a BIG yes, then bask in the glory of your self illumination, knowing you are correct. Comments like lawyer up, and dismissing even the thought of EEOC complaint only show your bitterness and weakness of character that someone even dare disagree with you.

The layoffs were definitely aimed mainly at tunired employees but if you took the severance you agreed not to sue. I got a years severance and a large pension so I was happy to retire, they actually gave me a years salary for nothing since I was going to retire this month anyway. Your best bet is to file a complaint with the EEOC which I am looking into.

If this board is started by plaintiff attorneys, maybe they are on to something. I seem to sense a clear bias toward tenured employees. The job analysis which somehow did not cap management salaries yet effected a large portion of employees with 15-20 years in. They also tended to be older employees who yes, worked had got raises and now are deemed expendable.
