The alignment of area to locations were finally set. I've heard rumors of no more relocation benefits. What about those of us that don't want to move, any chance to apply to another job?

Meant Tempe not Phoenix in my post below.
Relo has never been a given. A number of peers from my area went to Tacoma and Phoenix shortly after the hubs opened. No Relo was offered to them then so I doubt it will be offered now. I have only heard of MG level transfers getting Relo from the get go.
Sadly, I am fairly certain that if you didn't catch a ride to a hub by now, you won't be offered a ride again. While I think they will make offers including relocation to a very limited number of people, 99% of people will not be that lucky.
There hasn’t always been relocation offered. When hubs opened if you weren’t a certain level you did not get relocation benefits to move. You had to cover it yourself. This is nothing new.
First group to be cut without it "severence". Let the lawsuits begin! The first few groups weren't offered buyouts or severence, it was payment to keep their mouths shut. CDE/ICP was a joint decision between Systems and Business. Both should be ashamed, until SF gets there data in one place and kill the antiquated systems mentioned above, nothing will work. At this point, 6-7 years into this mess, execs know it but have no idea how to get out of it. Now they are simply getting rid of people to try to get pension money. Whomever said that folks are not losing pension is right in only one scenario, that is if there is a spouse who can pick up all the insurance. Otherwise, you are forced to begin drawing on your pension or severe ties with the company. Catch 22! Someone leaving at 55 loses 5% for every year they begin drawing their pension before age 62+. 10% between the age of 61-62, that is a 45% loss of pension!!!
That last post was a joke, right? The 38% I mean.
As for the puppies part.. seems plausible.
I heard that on the Wednesday after Christmas they’re going to make an announcement about the plans to cut the employee workforce below leadership level by 38%. In other news, I heard that the company will begin investigating the use of puppies and cats automate systems processes in mid 2018.
In all this conversation going on at Corp south no one seems to be able to say what is going to happen to rank and file systems employees? Are we just going to keep these people in limbo. Side not the hubs are not safe places. There are all types of "structure studies" going on across the enterprise. If you don't know that you want to live in a big city that is more expensive than most OC locations and Bloomington stay put.
True that the work is moving and not necessarily people. I haven't heard of anything official regarding not planning to move people, but I think it will be natural that a majority of people won't move. I would say a third of our team is willing to move, a third are in dual income situation where the spouses' work was allocated to different locations, and a third unable/unwilling to move due to family situations or not wanting to leave
Our director came by when the news was broke and did answer questions that he knew answers for (which were shockingly, but unsurprisingly few). He did say that relocation benefits were going to be available to those who received job offers in another location. Other than that, we are expecting directors to be announced today, and then they are picking managers under them, and that is expected to not be finalized until mid February.
At that point, then the managers start picking their teams, which I could see taking months and months. That's when this is going to get ugly with people 'interviewing' to keep their jobs and others scrambling to find local work
How they are going to handle the location shuffle and transition work to keep some level of aptitude in work areas remains to be seen
I have heard that the work is moving but not the people.. in fact in most cases there is no plan to move the people unless they cannot find the resources in the new location. If your work moves you will be reassigned somewhere local.
I haven't heard anything new, but originally they were saying we'd have a chance to interview for something local. I would, however, expect those positions to be highly competitive, since most people aren't going to want to move.
The logical end result of all this is more lay-offs. I wonder if the people who don't want to relocate and can't find something local will be offered severance or if they'll be the first group cut without it?
