Hey all, do you feel comfortable providing upward feedback to your supervisor?

What do we have to loose at this point? If it makes you feel better go for it. If you are scared or not comfortable don’t do it! I think it helps to voice your feelings even though it won’t impact the bigger picture. That’s my my personal way of dealing with this stress.

Hello there...

It really is simple-- IF you are not comfortable talking with or to your supervisor...or the management above them, that is what the ethics line is for. I had to report my first supervisor for not paying me the shift diff since I worked evenings and weekends... that was corrected. Sadly, Humana is known for 'scooting' bad leaders around instead of firing them... still, you must let them know.

Has anyone asked thier coach for a reference? Does this have to go through HR or can coaches give written references if they want?

There really isn’t any point in speaking up. Senior leadership doesn’t care, and I think most Coaches and probably COMs by now wouldn’t take any concerns voiced up the ladder to them. At least for those that barely have a coach visible anymore maybe you can run to the bathroom in peace without fear of being told you took too long, didn’t aux code correctly or some other micromanaging nonsense.

Don't talk - nothing to gain, everything to lose...

HCMRN here and my supervisor is a very good leader who does not micromanage I respect her very much. But I too, like someone else, tend to lay low . I don't believe any opinions or suggestions go anywhere, as all opinions and suggestions and changes filter down from the top. Not the other way

My manager is always busy. She’s been avoiding half of the team who is being laid off and is barley available on chat. She’s gone 60% of the day and Impossible to connect or feel comfortable to approach.

Are you absolutely kidding with this question? No one in this organization should feel comfortable speaking up. It will always be used against you. I am a well-educated nurse with a tremendous amount of experience in health care, and if I have learned anything here DO NOT under any circumstances, speak up. Just do your job, lay low, don't complain about anything, especially in the chats (they are monitored, by the way, by more than just your coach). I am an outspoken nurse and try to advocate for things to be done correctly, with quality, and using evidence-based information. I have been with this company a long time. I was RIFFed this time around. I am sure it was because I am vocal about quality and business improvement. If you stay this time around DO NOT go to your boss for anything, it will be used against you.

I'm guessing coaches must have call reviews too because my coach talks like she is being watched at all times. She speaks carefully and deliberately and gives no information whatsoever. Utilizes talking points and seems afraid to speak about anything that may have a negative tone. Talks in circles and always spews positivity. I get positivity and think it is necessary, but not always appropriate.

No, she lies all the time. I've caught her so many times lying, and if I call her out on it she acts like I misunderstood her. No lady, I understood what you said very clearly. I keep a log of emails and screenshots from group chat of what she says. She also is rarely available to us. I also keep a lot of how often she leaves early, puts herself into do not disturb mode or is otherwise unavailable. She averages less than 5 hours a week of actually being available for us or having provided back up coach.

I feel like my supervisor is a caring person so I would feel comfortable with it. Why is HR doing inquiries on this site though?

No. My boss is a robot. I think s/he literally reads talking points verbatim and does not validate anyone's concerns regarding cuts, so no one speaks of concerns regarding cuts (or anything for that matter). I once told my boss I felt anxious about the impending changes and s/he read me a paragraph on how the EAP was there for me if I needed to talk about my anxiety.

This thread escalated so quickly :-)

My response: NO, my feedback is never appreciated by my current boss, so, I keep my mouth shut. I had better bosses before
