Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

RNs and SSs next round??

There is no way RNs and SSs won't be impacted the next round with this new telemodularity system moving the majority of members to 'monitored' status. RN rosters are low and getting lower and SS focus is on working down the queue (which coaches previously used to validate the role). CHE tasks have been sitting in queues for weeks and I wonder if these resources will ever be sent. Anyone have any insight as to when next round is coming and how many from each role will be affected?

New hire hcm rn do not get paid less. Some are coming in higher than seasoned.

I don't think Humana is going to a 10-6 model for everyone....doesn't make sense with time zones, and those of us that work reaching out to those across all time zones

You might want to rethink this... @PzmTonR-3bxr "New hires make less and work the new preferred business hours of 10-6. That is the plan and who will stay to manage the members while the rest are let go".

Humana use a formula which takes into account national and local pay for specific roles. In the past we have seen people starting on much higher salaries than those already with the company and with increases pegged at around 3% there is no real prospect of catching up.

HCMSS consultation line is simply being collapsed into the warm transfer line. There is nothing sinister going on there. The goal is to make it easier for care managers to garner insight and feedback from an HCMSS. The sky is not falling.

New hires make less and work the new preferred business hours of 10-6. That is the plan and who will stay to manage the members while the rest are let go. I don't think Humana still hiring has anything to do with RNs being safe. I think it's the complete opposite.

Open enrollment starts next week, and new members will start January 1, so there will be the usual drop and add due to that as Medicare people change their plans

The jobs under #hcsrenewal seem all to be geared towards the home health arena....and what I posted was told to me by someone higher than a coach

I still think writing on the wall for HCM RNs. What region previous poster? I did not see HAH HCM role even on the site for hiring. I did hear some HCM RNs are still leaving. I just do not see them ramping up a program that is going in the direction they are leading us. Where are the newly enrolled members? Look up role for HP&S Clinical Advisor. That was an interesting role managing those doing similar roles like ours. They keep us guessing that is for sure.

Hcmrn here. I don't see rn's being next considering they just hired a bunch more. And I believe my coach was interviewing again 2 weeks ago. I'd say 1/4th of my team is either right at 3 months or under it

We were told HCM SS would not be impacted, and hah overall HAS taken many hits, and the rift is humana wide, other departments may be impacted before hah.

Agreed, below poster. 2017 has not been a good year to be a phc, unfortunately.

Don't worry, RNs, you're going to get plenty of new members from the PHC rosters. PHCs are being asked to identify members whose LOI is Health-Challenged or Functionally-Challenged so they can be moved to nurses. Since many of the other low acuity members are going to monitored status, that will leave very low PHC rosters. You can bank on it that PHCs will be cut before nurses. It's common sense.

Consult line that is closing, not WT line. However, no need for additional staff. Our queues are depleting...and fast. Agree that cuts are coming. No way we can maintain staff at this rate.

It is the SS consult that is closing at this time. The warm transfer line remains open. Fingers crossed.

Or maybe there weren't enough consults to justify full time staff to keep on, and they need them for the queue

I have never commented previously but feel so sick right now it is hard to even want to call people when you have no idea when they are going to make the next cuts. I would have never come to work for Humana if I would have known how the treat staff

HCMSS consult and warm transfer lines are different. Which did the email say was closing? Or both? I haven't received it yet.

I agree . They are now closing HCM SS warm transfer line effective COB 10-6-2017

Just got an email about no longer using the HCM-SS consultation line. We are to use the warm transfer lines instead. They are going to be downsizing a lot. I don't think anyone is safe this round.

If Humana announces lay offs in mid to end of October 60 days from then would be mid-end of December. Meaning no Christmas or New Years day pay. I think that's what is being said in previous posts. I've never received any kind of bonus with Humana. They will reduce work force before having to give that one time check that we're supposed to get in January instead of raises. It appears all of this has been planned for a long time and they've just been stringing us along to wrap up our work.

I think there is some confusion about holiday pay versus holiday bonus. Yes, you have some paid holidays.

No, you likely will not be receiving a membership to the jelly of the members nth club.

Last poster, are you in a role that requires you to work on the holidays? I think paid holidays are company wide, so unless you are PT I am not certain why you wouldn't have "holiday pay" which just means you get paid on the holiday. Upcoming holidays would include Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. We don't work these days and still get paid, meaning "holiday pay."

I have never received "holiday pay" or a Christmas bonus. A lot of folks have adjusted their spending this quarter. I know I have.

I would like to think that if cutts are going out o happen they will be done before the holidays! I would also like to believe they would have compassion and not lay off during holidays! I also believe cuts are coming in mid OCT.

"What holiday pay?" You have to be joking.... Having worked for hospital systems in Florida I know what no holiday pay looks like. In comparison Humana are just generous. Your PTO is generous.

There are approximately 250 SSs, that is correct. But if CMs get cut, that is where the SS work comes from and the need for SSs will also decrease. I guess we'll know in a couple weeks.

I am PHC I'm just going with the flow. I'm still here for round 4. This is by far the worst employer. I have ever worked for. I don't like the uncertainty putting things on hold financially until I find another job. This past year has been unbearable.

We've been told that humanas model used to be to hold on to members as long as possible, but this is an abrupt shift to client driven contact that is initiated by the member, given staffing, it seems there may be CM lay offs, but maybe not HCM SS, due to the limited number of them and the restricted state issue...I think there is only 250 hcmss for the whole country

I agree, something needs to be changing with staffing with the 2.0 model, since it doesn't make sense!

If the early retirement employees have to let management know their decision by mid October and most members will be moved to monitored by then. That would be the time to expect an email about lay-offs. That would eliminate holiday pay and decrease the amount of employees in the new year. This hasn't been told to me, just speculation. I wouldn't put it past them to have no regard for us during the holidays. It will save additional money in their already bulging, greedy pockets.

I have been wondering how we will be impacted. We went from never closing a case to closing and moving to monitored. Something is up.

I am an SS as well and my coach has been concerned about making sure everyone is taking enough tasks. She stated that for the number of tasks coming in, if everyone is taking 3/day, numbers should be decreasing faster. The conversation indicated they were watching closely and seemed concerned that it was not going down (despite the fact that all tasks are currently in compliance). I agree that we will see cuts soon. as we are already down 145 after 1 day of telemodularity.
