Thread regarding Follett layoffs

CM

I wonder if we will be lectured during our CM weekly calls about how we are to blame for collapsing text sales this fall. "You did not set high enough QTC, but we won't discuss the 'tolerance' metric that persuaded you to do that."

I had so many re orders. my rm was all over me about my out of stocks. I didn't dare order too many over the guidelines because of fear of creating dead books. lose lose situation.

Too many out of stocks? Thanks, HO, for creating paranoia about over-ordering.

No wonder there are so many CM job openings on the internal careers sight. Cut them down to hourly and then give them handcuffs in ordering books. Good luck filling these new positions. Who in their right mind is gonna move cities for an hourly position. Looks like it's gonna be new, inexperienced CMs at store 3's

Focus on the bottom line rather than focus on the customer. Sounds right.

Follett has been reducing sales volume and pissing off customers for 6 - 7 years...ever since they started the stupid sell-thru metrics, and QTC formulas. I know they must have saved taxes and freight as a result of reducing inventories after rush periods, but the question is: at what expense? Sales dropping, students can't trust that on campus stores will have what they need, and deteriating faculty/college administrators/ students loyalty and faith in Follett.

However we do not set the prices & that is the biggest downfall. Even though the tolerance left shelves bare way soon, not following that again.
