I've been looking through other boards on this site and around the net and the situation is bleak all around. I was gonna start looking for a new job as a preemptive measure but there doesn't seem to be a good option out there. Just look at Humana for example. Is there any company in our industry that actually values its employees and doesn't use them for a quick quarterly bump in profits?

Go wherever you have to in order to survive. If that means changing industries, change industries. If that means taking a job out of state or abroad, do it. There comes a time when you'll realize it's either you or everyone else and you will make a choice. Survive. Stop worrying about everyone else. Learn to play the game.
You got it. People seem to think it's only happening at their workplace and don't even consider that what's going on is bigger than their fishbowl.
Guess that's not "positive thinking" so we have to lie to ourselves instead.
