Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

Shocking and Sad

Shocked by cold delivery of news to employees about lay off and lack of compassion by director handing out black garbage bag to employees as to say their contributions were also garbage.

I was given a black SHOPPING bag, not a black garbage bag. I can't say what happened to people elsewhere, but no one in Long Beach, CA was given a trash bag. I'm not disappointed in HOW I was let go. I worked for Molina for many years and I am not pleased to be laid off, however...layoffs happen. I was let go in a very dignified manner. The President of the area I worked in and my AVP (who was my supervisor) were both present and were kind and understanding in this process. I am as upset as anyone and especially upset because the culture of Molina is a very family oriented culture. But let's not get carried away here. Companies aren't human beings. We shouldn't be surprised by this lay off. It's the second in a series of waves that we were warned would happen. Additionally, anyone thinking it would be business as usual after The Molina's were let go, is ignoring the obvious. Lay offs and selling the company are the two things The Molina's would've never agreed to. The Molina's were removed from the mix and the rest is predictable. Brace yourself. If you weren't given anything to carry your belongings out in or if you were given trash bags to carry your things in, that is truly awful. It upsets me to read that. I just didn't see any of that in Long Beach and it's not what happened to me. Let's all take our valuable work experience and our passion for serving the underserved, to the next great place we work! We can all network and support each other in positive ways. Being upset about the way this happened is really a waste of time. Process this painful time and let's rally to move on.

At least give people some basic packaging boxes.

Plastic bags, especially the black ones are just horrible. I felt like trash.
