Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Well tomorrow starts the week from HeLL..

I wish everyone the best and hope the news is better than we are expecting. I am trying to remain positive that, regardless of the outcome, I am blessed in many ways and that while loss of a job is stressful, it is not the worst thing to happen. Here's hoping we all find a better path whether it be continuing with Humana or with a new company. Good luck tomorrow.

I’m nervous as a PHC who’s pregnant and due in Feb. I wasn’t thrilled to think of paying my full deductible, but it’s much scarier to think of having no coverage at all or coverage at $1k/ mo for my family.

My cobra is going to be much more than that.

Just to warn you, my sister and husband are on the ACA (small business owners). They pay $850 a month for 2 of them with an enormous deductible. Their plans will increase next year by 25%. Nuts! You should research it now. You might qualify for subsidies. My sister does not even though they are just starting to turn a profit in their business.

While it is heartbreaking any parent has to worry about care for a child, I am grateful there remains an option other than cobra. Best to you and your family, poster!

At least we have the option to have insurance through the ACA exchange plan. I carry health insurance for my family and will not be able to afford my mortgage and carry cobra. So greatful I can still have insurance for my type one diabetic child. Her insulin is vey expensive. Good luck to all!

I choose not to worry, not to complain and not to blame this all on Humana leadership. It's the nature of the beast and has been handled no differently than the layoff my spouse went through last year with another company. Worrying is like riding a stationary bike. You use up all your energy and get no where. Instead I am planning for the future. I have plans A-D in place. Life his a crapshoot anyway. Best of luck to all!
