I left Juniper in 2016 after 10+ years with the company. The culture has soured since the end of the KJ era. Key elements of the Juniper Way have been re-purposed as after-the-fact justifications for poor decision making (We Are Authentic. Anyone???). That said, i disagree with some of the posts here. I don't believe all of the blame falls on senior leadership. From what i saw, middle managers were equally prone to making selective conclusions, valuing activity over results, and transforming opinion into fact through the miracle of PowerPoint. Then again, one could make the argument, "Who chose the Middle Managers?" Regardless, my point is there's plenty of blame to go around.
When i resigned, my manager pulled me aside and tried to explain how leaving the company would prove to be the biggest mistake of my life. So far, i don't think it has been, but i guess I'll have to wait and see. The only constant is change.
